Herald:
Tim Wakefield is going on the disabled list with a stiff, tight right shoulder. He will be scratched from Tuesday's start, with a replacement to be named later.
Wakefield is returning to Boston today to receive a cortisone shot and to be examined by Dr. Tom Gill. The team is optimistic that the injury, in the same area in the back of the shoulder that bothered Wakefield late last season, will respond to the rest and he will be available in September. ...
The Herald mentions Michael Bowden as a possible replacement, though he is not on the 40-man roster.

oh christ almighty. wake seems like he was cruising this year. well better now that at the end of sept, i guess.
From SoSH:
Bowden is supposed to pitch today after Colon -- if he's coming up, they'll scratch him (PawSox start at 1 PM)
David Pauley went 7 IP last night -- bzzzt.
Zink would be on 3 days rest.
Devern Hansack would be on regular rest.
Anybody else think this might be a planned, not 100% necessary DL trip to let Wake rest a bit?
