This way I'm covered for seeing the Pesky ceremony whatever day they end up having it, with the crazy rain and all. But Sunday, when there probably be at least one game, that day has a lot of categories, including standing room.

By the way, I did have a thought about if the Rays win the division tonight or tomorrow night. The East and WC will be wrapped up, which could actually be good news for Boston. Bad news for Jere.
What if tomorrow night and Saturday's games are rained out? There is a big one-two punch of storms coming for tomorrow and Saturday... If the playoffs are already decided in the East, those two games wouldn't need to be played, would they?
That could be very beneficial going out to Anaheim.

Still Saturday left, and I was able to just now get (meaning to the point where I could've bought but didn't because I already have tix) 1 RF roof box seat for Sunday. And try again tonight at midnight.
It wasn't really a question of optimism, more like, tickets were released, so I picked the games I wanted and they were right there waiting for me to buy.
Yeah I'm in the drawing, too--it started with ALDS, and if you're not selected, you're entered for next round automatically. (I was rooting against myself for ALDS so I'd have a shot at the later rounds...though I could've just waited till now to enter.)
I think as far as these last couple of games go, I'm not too concerned with not going. I at least know what to do next year, and I know what to expect.
The rain is messing everything up, but Red Sox-Yanks at Fenway is always the hardest to get, and even when it's meaningless, it's like no other matchup from a crowd perspective.
Also, Celts go on sale tomorrow at 10 AM if anyone cares about that. And to answer your Q, yes, I got the $20 standing room for Sunday, and a fourth row seat in dead center for $26 on Friday night. Something similar woulda run me three times as much $ at the least on the scalper sites.

Because they really might end up losing a game and maybe he'll accuse us of using the rain to get extra rest or something. Though FO surely wants three days' worth of gate action. No, I think we're much better off playing Chicago or Minnesota, but I think the Red Sox match up better against the Angels now than they did back in July. Also, I think if the Rays played the Angels, the Red Sox would have had a better go of it in the ALDS and then also in the ALCS against either Los Angeles or Tampa, because those two teams would probably have duked it out over five games.

Looking back on the last six games against the Angels, some of them could really have gone either way.
The two games HH pitched were not good games, but if someone else pitched it could have been more interesting. July 19th was a close one: Beckett went 8 IP giving up 4 runs, while Joe Saunders went 6 2/3 giving up only 2.
Wakefield and Garland were closely matched on July 20th. Wakefield went 7 giving up 4 runs, while Garland went 6 2/3 giving up 3. Final score 5-3 them.
Allan just pointed out to me that the Spiders are wearing caps with a cursive "I" on it, not the racist logo. At least Sowers is, we assume everyone else is too.

Dice-K had a pretty ugly game on July 28th at Fenway. 5 innings, 6 runs. But Weaver went 5 2/3 giving up 3 runs. That was another two-run win for the Angels, 7-5.
One game that was a clear win for LAAAAA was the game where Lackey almost threw a no-hitter.
Final game against them was July 30th - Beckett was shelled in 5 1/3 innings, giving up 8 runs while Saunders went 6 and gave up 2.
So three of those six games were won by only two runs by Anaheim. Neither of those were pitched by Buchholz. So, conceivably there are 5 of those 6 games that could have gone either way had they been against the September Red Sox.

The key is when it says "tickets not available in that quantity," just try again. And again. I clicked like 30 times, finally 1 ticket came thru. THen, click continue, click "add another game," choose the same game, and begin process again to get the other single.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm preparing for reality. The Rays play three more games - the Red Sox play four including tonight. I don't see the Rays losing three games.
Ideally, I'd like to have seen the Red Sox play the Central, have the Rays and Angels drag out five games and then play the Rays in the ALCS. Have Tampa take care of the Angels for us.
But now with the weather, that would probably require a doubleheader on Sunday and a game on Monday. I don't think tomorrow night's game will be played, and I highly doubt Saturday's 3:55 start will either.

I think the Rays want to just win their game tomorrow and win the division. They know they'll be facing a very good team in the ALCS if they make it, either the Red Sox or the Angels, and that team will have played 3, 4, or 5 games. So whether the Red Sox play Friday and Saturday's games shouldn't matter to Tampa.

I don't know much about the book .I should get it.How does it read ,like a histroy book, or does he do alot of interviews?

9C, it's a story, with the young Babe Ruth as the main character. I mean, it's all factual, but it's told in a narrative, story form. The interview material is worked in, not like Q&As.
It's a lot about baseball during that time. 8 teams in each league, a western road trip meant taking the train to Chicago or St Louis. No radio even.

Babe Ruth was incredible. Allan and I both totally fell in love with him from his reasearch.
