Delete84 wins was me trying to be as positive as I could possibly be, but pessimism is very on-brand for me. My parades are always wet, my glasses are 9/10s empty, my default feelings about the Red Sox were set in stone sometime around 1960....

In Game 1 of today's doubleheader against the Cardinals, I swear Lou Merloni said something like "I bet a hundred dollars is going to pitch tonight." So, a la our old game threads and giving players funny nicknames, I vote either "hundred dollars" or "c note" for Hunter Dobbins.
ReplyDeleteI can't hear 'dobbin' without thinking of a slow, lazy, goodnatured, easygoing horse, and so, yeah, Dobbins definitely needs a nickname to scrub that image out of my mind, because who wants a dobbin for a pitcher? Looking for a racehorse, not a plowhorse!
ReplyDeleteInteresting start... an opening day win, then four straight losses, now five straight wins... luckily, I got to witness the first two wins in the home opening series and my daughter and her boyfriend caught the thumping the Sox gave the Red Birds last night!
