One guy was pacing in front of me and putting up the count with both hands like an ump after every pitch. Usually there is a reasonable number of Sox fans, even if outnumbered. But there was only one other Sox fan in there last night.

The Yankee fans weren't being assholes to me directly, but I left and went to a Sox-friendly bar down the street. I decided it was not going to be enjoyable. I went back at the very end of the game and got a ribbing from the other Sox fan, who screamed at the MFY fans that the Sox were going to come back, and had the satisfaction when they did.

I think I'm still glad I left. I'm not sure going on an intense emotional roller coaster equals enjoyment.Zenslingerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06040836002694584468noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-83548598971306620992010-04-05T12:40:30.476-07:002010-04-05T12:40:30.476-07:00My condolences to your friend, Laura. My condolences to your friend, Laura.Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15720293202890878993noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-17860336895357751692010-04-05T12:29:53.861-07:002010-04-05T12:29:53.861-07:00The return of Schadenfreude! He was one of the many senior fans who in 2004 said he could now die happy - but he lived to see 2007, too.

I emailed her condolences and this was part of her reply:

"You both will be interested to know his last dream that he spoke of was that the Red Sox swept the opening series with the Yankees!"

Come on Sox, do it for Tom Egan!laura khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05524593142290489958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-88464658846110037482010-04-05T10:34:23.889-07:002010-04-05T10:34:23.889-07:00We showed 'em!!!We showed 'em!!!johngoldfinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09322562737172405323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-23080767099883592062010-04-05T10:07:48.075-07:002010-04-05T10:07:48.075-07:00The first of many schadenfreude posts for the 2010...The first of many schadenfreude posts for the 2010 season! Our relievers were strong despite Ram Ram. Beckett gave up two HR's one of which was a cheap Pesky shot and the other was expected, but not from a lower order guy. Our money players were money and the Yanks were not so much. I cannot really put too much stock in how this game rates the pitching of either starter as these two teams do this to each other every game. Giving up just 5 runs by both guys was a good outing in this environment.andyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13080026360873456937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-69813113258708611072010-04-05T08:54:13.187-07:002010-04-05T08:54:13.187-07:00Classic game yet again.
