Just that biggie in section 5. But last night in the bleachers it was right back to the steady stream of ejections out there.

One guy right behind me got tossed and no one knew what he did. Three security guys just slowly walked down the row, got to him, said, "step out into the aisle please," and he silently left with them. It was like they caught a cheater at the casino or something on the overhead camera. (And he had a Sox hat so it wasn't a case of "remove the Yankee fan to solve the problem" which is usually what they do.) All of us wondered what he did wrong. If anyone knew, they weren't saying.Jerehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13448619048422750447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-86069258546630182662008-04-14T10:06:00.000-07:002008-04-14T10:06:00.000-07:00Man. Got home a bit after 3 last night...too tired to comment, but I read most of the thread (finished this morning).

Jere's right, it was cold. Not unbearable though (maybe if the game were going the other way)...thank god I don't have the desire to go to a football game and sit in the cold for hours when you can't figure out what the ants on the field are doing.

My seats were quite good. pretty much straight back from 1st under the overhang. Only play I couldn't really see was Casey missing the foul ball by the cameras.

I kept having a running commentary thread in my head peppered with lots of on fire!!!s and fuck yeahs and a good fuck me or two as FY threw his bat in disgust and the failed stretching of the double. I could imagine the cries of "white flag" when Timlin showed up and down.

What's with the reflectors on the foul poles? Are those new additions?

Dice-K not so solid, but survived. The one game I went to last year was a 1-0 win over the Giants with Dice-K for 7, Oki, then the Bot. A solid outing, but this was a more fun game to be at for sure.

All in all a total blast...the game seemed like it would never end, until suddenly it was the top of the 9th.

Thanks again, Jere.nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12044296357860322585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-47543418346372637412008-04-14T07:00:00.000-07:002008-04-14T07:00:00.000-07:00June 13, 1947.June 13, 1947.Benjaminhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00421785398444449007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-91822322064982085412008-04-14T06:45:00.000-07:002008-04-14T06:45:00.000-07:00Before there were lights and night games, attendan...Before there were lights and night games, attendance was very low.

(More things you can learn if you read Allan's book.)

I don't remember when night games started in Boston. Amazing.

Fan behavior at Fenway has improved greatly since they no longer sell beer in the stands and limit sales even at the concession stands. I think there was only one fight in the stands on Friday. Or at least only one that drew crowd attention. I remember Sox-Yankee games in the "old days" when there would be a fight almost every inning somewhere in the ballpark. I don't miss that at all.Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15720293202890878993noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-44211593272956970902008-04-14T04:25:00.000-07:002008-04-14T04:25:00.000-07:00Thanks Amy. Posada eating the ball was the best. That and Cy Hughes shitting the bed again. Hank's gonna blow!

Good job bringing up the Vaccaro article. What does it say about your career as a writer when you claim something will be remembered for 50 YEARS, and it's forgotten the next day. If I were his boss, I'd have pulled a Peterman: "Mike...you're out."

That attitude fits in with the curse talk. Pre-2004, they could stay stuff like that. That the Red Sox will fail and the Yanks will prevail just because. Granted, even that was complete bullshit. It's proven as bullshit in '04, yet they revert back to it! The curse is back!!! But, no, we won the World Series AGAIN.

9casey: Before fire codes, they could pack as many into the park as would fit, and besides that people would stand out in right field before Williamsburg was there. And also all along the warning track out to left field. That's how you get the big attendance numbers.Jerehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13448619048422750447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-50710770333647937622008-04-13T22:02:00.001-07:002008-04-13T22:02:00.001-07:00I did not see past the fourth, so it's nice things...I did not see past the fourth, so it's nice things turned out well.Zenslingerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06040836002694584468noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-33863899634710528142008-04-13T22:02:00.000-07:002008-04-13T22:02:00.000-07:00I love MDC now too.
