I know major league baseball does it in their on going struggle to influence the product on the field through the umpiring crews. A public accounting would be nice ,and worth while. The un-informed opinionating about this ump or that is annoying. Umps probably have good days and bad days just like the rest of us.

On Jeter's strike zone in that game, it reminds me of what an umpire is reported to have said to a young pitcher, There is the story about the young pitcher complaining about a pitch to Williams that the umpire called a ball. The umpire allegedly says, “Son, when the pitch is a strike, Mr. Williams will let you know.”Michael Hollowayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11569272458580142677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-47286910417439640312010-08-07T11:53:31.153-07:002010-08-07T11:53:31.153-07:00Regardless of the orientation, the last pitch to J...Regardless of the orientation, the last pitch to Jeter was on or just off the outside corner, and so the graph/system is worthless.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16232268303625932250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-83801289051641857582010-08-07T07:09:31.012-07:002010-08-07T07:09:31.012-07:00The box is from the ump's perspective, so CI w...The box is from the ump's perspective, so CI would be standing on the left side.allanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04673233312198832937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-59123389634473038692010-08-07T06:39:15.866-07:002010-08-07T06:39:15.866-07:00@9casey -- maybe the box is from the batter's ...@9casey -- maybe the box is from the batter's perspective, not the pitcher's like we get on TV?matthewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14426156183488071453noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-43469252886929379262010-08-07T06:11:53.706-07:002010-08-07T06:11:53.706-07:00I just watched the ab again, and I am not sure tha...I just watched the ab again, and I am not sure that anything on the graph is correct...

unless I am looking at it wrong9caseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14214364466933716867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-23235445134355738822010-08-07T05:49:30.499-07:002010-08-07T05:49:30.499-07:00Wow!Wow!RedSoxDiehardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17537414403198814299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-32037235966094231872010-08-07T05:40:31.259-07:002010-08-07T05:40:31.259-07:00that box isn't right the last pitch to Jeter w...that box isn't right the last pitch to Jeter was on the outide corner not inside.9caseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14214364466933716867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-6053414211642690362010-08-07T05:32:16.190-07:002010-08-07T05:32:16.190-07:00That is fascinating.
