I find that interesting, because of how long Mussina's been a starter. Seems like it'd be a bigger adjustment to move to the bullpen for a starting pitcher than to just adjust on his current pitching.

Ian Kennedy will be called up to make (at least) one start. At least it's better for Mussina going to the bullpen rather than being designated for assignment.

And how did this happen!? Seattle shelled Ervin Santana for five runs in just 1/3 of an inning, knocking him out of the game, and yet, they lose. Los Angeles came back at the M's and Jeff Weaver for 5 runs in 4.1 innings.

The two teams were tied after 7 innings, 6-6, when Brandon Morrow coughed it up big time. 2 hits and 2 walks leading to 4 runs in the 8th inning, and that was the final score. 10-6.

Seattle falls to 4 games behind the Angels and is just 1 game ahead of the Yankees in the wild card.Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14809080115678512743noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-60633514930473106422007-08-29T05:24:00.000-07:002007-08-29T05:24:00.000-07:00I'm just flattered that you noticed my absence. Ja...I'm just flattered that you noticed my absence.

Jackie, I did notice your absence. You are (or would be) an excellent addition to the community.

I'm glad you came back to explain the issue further from your POV.

I understand what you're saying, and I'm sure it seems pigheaded - or at least silly - not to just say, sure, I'll tone it down.

I do let many of those types of comments go, I don't argue with everything I disagree with, just like (I assume) none of us cheer every single comment we like.

But some things drive me nuts, and I can't honestly say if the scene was repeated that I'd do any differently. It's an emotional reaction that I feel free to express here, because I know the owner of the blog feels the same way (and often expresses it in much harsher tersm than I do).

At another site, if most people were doing the "it's over" thing, I might write one short post countering it, then disappear. I wouldn't have the same comfort level.

That's one of the reasons I like it here.

I don't want my attitude or comments to drive anyone way, but I also recognize that no blog can be all things to all people. Obviously if significant numbers of long-time posters were leaving, we'd know something was wrong. (And hopefully they could give us some constructive criticism on their way out the door.) But a lot of people seem to be happy, so I feel it's not a problem.

I hope you'll join us in future game threads, you are most welcome to. Either way, enjoy September and October!laura khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05524593142290489958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-2277593394140469682007-08-29T03:54:00.000-07:002007-08-29T03:54:00.000-07:00"do you have any idea how much i want the sox to k..."do you have any idea how much i want the sox to knock the living fuck out of billy tomorrow? ... i don't think you do."

Ohhhhh, believe me when I tell you I most certainly do.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-13469538696638582182007-08-28T23:47:00.000-07:002007-08-28T23:47:00.000-07:00So you're right. All I was trying to say in that post was that I was turned off by the way you (and redsock, to a lesser degree) constantly and (I felt) disproportionately attacked people - not even me! - for saying things that (I felt) were well within the realm of normal, loyal fan reaction.

I guess I was hoping that if I pointed it out rationally you might think "yeah, maybe we do come on a little strong/gang up on people sometimes, I can see how that would be bothersome, maybe we should tone it down a bit". That didn't happen, and that's obviously fine - it's your blog and you can run it however you want.

As I said there, I do like the site a lot - and obviously I still read occasionally (today's visit to the comments can be attributed to the Sox v. Yanks series; those always increase my Sox blog consumption)... but you're right, I'm not sure I "belong". Which is also fine. There are lots of blogs in the sea, and many of them also have highly entertaining game threads. I'm just flattered that you noticed my absence.Jackiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02358426266380862289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-56185700036722813922007-08-28T20:07:00.000-07:002007-08-28T20:07:00.000-07:00Good night.Hold those thoughts.Good night.

Hold those thoughts.allanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04673233312198832937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-29766770680881324112007-08-28T20:03:00.000-07:002007-08-28T20:03:00.000-07:00Got back in time to Catch Terry's take - RE: Manny...Got back in time to Catch Terry's take - RE: Manny, worried about the back, could be a big problem.
