Well, now. Lineup, from the Globe, from WEEI:
I like it.J.D. Drew, RF
Dustin Pedroia, 2B
David Ortiz, DH
Manny Ramirez, LF
Kevin Youkilis, 1B
Mike Lowell, 3B
Jason Varitek, C
Coco Crisp, CF
Julio Lugo, SS
Redsox.com:
Francis had a 6.52 ERA in April but has recovered with a 2.47 ERA and four wins since. In his last start at Baltimore, Francis got the loss, going seven innings and allowing four runs.
151-45 gay marriage mojo tonight. Hopefully not all the good vibes have been used up.
ReplyDeleteAbout all Drew has been able to do is walk this season, so he's not a bad choice at a .344 on base.
ReplyDeleteHrrrum.
Yes. Exactly. This should be the lineup every day. I wonder how many iterations we'll see.
ReplyDeleteIn the spring, many people were calling for Drew at #2 spot (even leadoff).
ReplyDeleteIf I recall, I was pushing for a Yook/Lugo 1-2, but JD/DP is probably the best thing for now, keeping Yook at 5th.
Now let's get a win, for fuck's sake.
gay marriage mojo tonight
ReplyDeletehomojo?
:>)
FSN on EI again (god those guys are bad!) but the Jays are off and Rogers Cable Sportsnet is showing NESN!!!
ReplyDeleteLast night they showed the Yankee game and left us w/ the Rockies Fox broadcast, so we're really in luck tonight.
ReplyDeleteMFY won again this afternoon 7-1.
ReplyDeleteRockies pitcher is on my all girls team.
ReplyDeleteNot fair! Name isn't spelled Frances.
ReplyDeleteInstead of gnawing my own balls off in reaction to that Manny-Youk strikeout festival, I'll present this thought I had earlier:
ReplyDeleteA lot of the people we've beat ourselves over the head for trading last year are not that great this year:
Bard - was hitting .360 for much of the year last year behind Piazza. Nowhere near that this year.
Cla - Decent but unspectacular (ERA pretty good at 3.86, WHIP meh at 1.46).
Arroyo - 2-7, 4.98, 1.51 - not that I don't wish him well.
Marte - still in the minors...right?
Anibal Sanchez - minors? hurt?
Hanley Ramirez is the only solid "D'oh!" at the moment. Not that I don't wish the other guys well.
Anyway, anything to distract myself from the Yanks winning streak and our falling behind in this game already! Damn!
But for Hanley, as you well know, we got Lowell (who has been 100000% better than anyone could have hoped) and Beckett (6th best ERA, 2nd best OBA).
ReplyDeletehanley:
ReplyDeletewe gave up talent to get talent. that's usually what you have to do.
i'm happy with the results so far.
"Not fair! Name isn't spelled Frances."
ReplyDeleteSpelling doesn't count. My team, my rules. :)
My rule for my team right now is that they must score some runs in this inning. This means you, Mr. Drew.
ReplyDeleteAt least he hit the ball well.
ReplyDeleteJeez.
This is annoying.
ReplyDeletecoco DID throw it to manny.
ReplyDeletegod remy can be such a moron.
josh is just setting up the triple play. all part of the grand scheme.
ReplyDeletefunny how their triple play looks just like a GS
ReplyDeleteyeah, now you funny too.
ReplyDeletecoco DID throw it to manny.
ReplyDeletegod remy can be such a moron.
remy just loves re-hashing that play when manny cut-off johnny damon's throw that time in like 2004 or something.
also, i just walked out of my livingroom and i'm forsaking the game for at least 10 minutes.
"remy just loves re-hashing that play when manny cut-off johnny damon's throw that time in like 2004 or something."
ReplyDeleteit's one of his obsessions
i think don has a crush on todd helton
it was funny tho.
ReplyDeletemeanwhile this is major bullshit.

There goes my balls!
ReplyDeleteAnyone have any good news? I could use some after that last HR.
ReplyDeleteAnyone have any good news?
ReplyDeleteI have a yummy ice cream cone (drumstick) in the freezer that I'll be eating later.
OMFG NESN... STFU about Tod Helton!
ReplyDelete"Anyone have any good news?"
ReplyDeleteEven if we lose tonight, we're still 7.5 games up.
That's all I got.
"OMFG NESN... STFU about Tod Helton!"
ReplyDeletegreat acronyms there
Well, Don and Jerry making fun of the "Sox Appeal" couple is pretty damn funny.
ReplyDeletedon and jerry's dating tips
ReplyDeleteomfg

ReplyDeleteComing late to the game, but I-girl's comment just got me:
ReplyDeletefunny how their triple play looks just like a GS
Well, least that gave me a laugh. I could go for a nice late-game recovery. Are we still betting on Papi's 1st walkoff?
wow -- we can't even knock julio around.
ReplyDeletethis is starting to piss me off.
Glad I could help.
ReplyDeleteIt's L-girl btw. Looks weird in lower case.
I had the Papi walkoff for yesterday - my birthday. Who's got today?
Walkoff: blackjack.
ReplyDeletewe can still come back.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday l-girl :D

ReplyDeletei have no inbetween modus operandi right now. it's either 'this fucking sucks' or 'we can do it' mentality.
ReplyDeleteso i'm forsaking for now.

this is gonna be some kind of 9th inning comeback!
ReplyDeleteright?

...
right?
uh, yeah. sure.
ReplyDeleteit will stay 7-1 i'm afraid.
ReplyDeletepiffle. the worst thing about slumps is not knowing when they're gonna end. you know?
ReplyDeleteThis team needs a shot in the arm.Tito seems to be looking for a leadoff hitter.......Lets see if Theo has any balls to call up the kid........let him leadoff for a week....Make some people wonder how secure their jobs actually are..
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday L, Gemini who knew :)
ReplyDeleteMMkay. How many runs have we scored since Oakland started this disaster? I bet half of that total was in the 13 run game. This sucks.
ReplyDeleteBalls.
ReplyDeleteAt least I finally tried a pint of Keith's Red tonight. Delish! (sorry, I've seen too much of that Dunkin commercial with that obnoxious broad with the tar heels)
i know who is that chick?!?!
ReplyDeleteshe has two commercials and it's like 'UM, AND YOU ARRRRRE????'
The chick is Rachel Ray. I had to ask too, 'cause she's really annoying. I thought at first she was just some talking head morning personality (Kelly Ripa, the staff of the View, etc.) and was really bothered by it.
ReplyDeleteThen I found out she has a cooking show, which mean she **may** have some redeeming qualities.
This slump has me discussing Rachel Ray. It's really bad.
I like Rachel Ray! Her cooking show is super popular, so it's odd that I like it, but I do.
ReplyDeleteBut man, I would kill for a Dunkin Donuts around here, just to get an iced coffee every day. Ontario doesn't know what an iced coffee is. It's the thing I miss most. Actually, it's the only thing I miss...
Hey, thank you, 9Casey! Fellow Gemini?
ReplyDeleteRachel Ray on the Food Network.
ReplyDeleteApparently she's become a brand with a million things going on, so maybe she's not even good anymore. But her cooking show used to be really cool.
She's also a big Sox fan, apparently.
ReplyDeleteBut I didn't recognize her in the DD commercial. Either she had on a ton of makeup or has had work done.
become a brand
Yeah. Also seen her name on the covers of various celebrity rags, so ...
Then I found out she has a cooking show, which mean she **may** have some redeeming qualities.
ReplyDeletelol and just wth is that supposed to mean?! ;p
cooking shows are fun tho (most of them) i remember this one cooking show on pbs called 'two fat ladies'. they were british and fat and awesome :)
I used to love Two Fat Ladies!
ReplyDeleteThe only one I seriously dislike is Emeril. He's just gross.
The only one I seriously dislike is Emeril. He's just gross.
ReplyDeleteBAM! KICK IT UP A NOTCH!
hah, he was the inspiration for a hockey team i was on one year, we would always yell at each other to kick it up a notch, and say BAM! at various things.
