Yankees - 000 101 060 - 8 12 2It was more than a bit odd that while Okajima melted down, Tito had only Papelbon up in the pen. Especially, since he went straight to Timlin in the 6th to put out a fire.
Red Sox - 011 302 000 - 7 13 2
Time of Game: 4:43
Jeemer came in with a 5-2 lead in the seventh and a man on base. Francona was managing the pen exactly right -- bringing in the best guys with the game on the line, completely ignoring what inning they have been "assigned" in the past. But he should have had another arm up -- MDC or Gagne -- alongside Bot.
It doesn't sound like Francona talked about this too much in the post-game interview (according to commenters). On a surface level, his explanation makes sense -- who would expect Jeemer and Bot to give up six runs before recording an out? Anyone wanna bet how long it'll be before that happens again?
But considering his decisions to call on with Timlin and Okajimna, I expected Francona to not be caught with his pants down in the eighth.

Andy Pettitte (3.78, 115 ERA+) / Daisuke Matsuzaka (4.44, 103 ERA+)
I can not tell you how excited I am for this series. I'll be at the game tonight in Right Field box -- we need to be LOUD tonight...who's with me?
ReplyDeleteWinning 2 would be so huge...c'mon, Matsuzaka, recover. Be the big game f*cking pitcher!
ReplyDelete-- we need to be LOUD tonight...who's with me?
ReplyDeleteI'm at work, so I'll be somewhat subdued.
Manny has great #s against both Tucan and Wang, so it would be great to see him in there tonight.
The Post's Mike Vaccaro says a MFY romp this weekend would leave scars "on the still-shockingly vulnerable psyche of Red Sox Nation".
ReplyDeleteFormer Yankee Mel Hall was indicted Wednesday on charges that he sexually assaulted two girls -- ages 12 and 14 -- who played on elite basketball teams he coached in the 1990s.
ReplyDeleteThe 46-year-old Hall could face life in prison if convicted ...
WHy BR Is The Shit #12,895:
ReplyDeleteThe results of evry Red Sox/Yankees game: here.
Boston is 914-1097 overall, but 506-505 at home.
who's with me?
ReplyDeleteI don't think Fenway will need any cheerleaders to help it get loud tonight!
The 46-year-old Hall could face life in prison if convicted ...
ReplyDeleteNo one serves life in prison for sexual assault in the US. I wouldn't expect to see any prison time.
The Post's Mike Vaccaro says a MFY romp this weekend would leave scars "on the still-shockingly vulnerable psyche of Red Sox Nation".
ReplyDeleteJoy Nation's L-girl says a Red Sox romp this weekend would leave sportswriters without the use of shopworn cliches, which might inconvenience their shockingly lazy asses.
Fat Billy says there is "no doubt" -- he will pitch on Sunday at Fenway.
ReplyDeleteI'm approaching this one with cautious optimism. I believe the BoSox are going to take that last debacle at Yankee Stadium to heart and put some big effort into this, knowing the MFY can certainly put effort into things.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the key to this is disciplined pitching (Matsuzaka please focus on this one), patience at the plate (Youk, Drew, et al.), and solid hit/run support.
I think Tek is right for discouraging booing at Drew, and that's why he's the Captain. Yes Drew's been more disappointing than I'd like to admit but maybe some encouragement could help him squeak a hit or even a run in.
Watching the games will most likely result in aneurysm, so I'm going to find ways to support without stress. Go Sox, go Dusty (still my choice for RotY), and go Papi/Manny for the win.
you should call check out this new app on facebook if you have the time...lets you trash yankees fans on the phone...pretty fun...

Believe it or not, I probably won't get to see this game or even listen on the radio. But I will be there in spirit. I am going to be with my parents, brother, and husband---all Yankee fans, with only my daughter as support for the Sox. So perhaps we are better off not being able to watch the game. So...please take care of things without me! And send some Sox vibes to me to help me put up with my family!

ReplyDeleteAnd send some Sox vibes to me to help me put up with my family!
Shit, we are 5.5 up , they should have to put up with you......
"Shit, we are 5.5 up , they should have to put up with you......"
ReplyDeleteYou'd think, but reports from my friend back in the tri-state say they're just so Joba-fied, they're acting like THEY're the ones in the lead. When you haven't won in 7 years, you have to look for the small victories.
1. Julio Lugo, SS
ReplyDelete2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. David Ortiz, DH
4. Mike Lowell, 3B
5. Kevin Youkilis, 1B
6. J.D. Drew, RF
7. Jason Varitek, C
8. Bobby Kielty, LF
9. Coco Crisp, CF
they're just so Joba-fied
ReplyDeleteyou mean they like the guy who celebrates so much on the mound he makes k-rod look like he's in a coma, but they say papelbon is an idiot for excessive fist-pumping?
ftr, it isn't the celebrating that bothers me (though both bot and jtc could calm down a tad or five), it's the hypocrisy.
ReplyDeleteGlobe says Tito says "maybe beginning of the week" for Manny.
ReplyDeleteperception is strange.
ReplyDeletemost of us would say the mariners are cooked in the wild card race, since they are 5.5 GB the yankees -- yet the yankees are 5.5 GB us -- and there is supposed to be widespread panic.
chokers:
ReplyDelete1. Johnny Damon, DH
2. Derek Jeter, SS
3. Bobby Abreu, RF
4. Alex Rodriguez, 3B
5. Jorge Posada, C
6. Hideki Matsui, LF
7. Jason Giambi, 1B
8. Robinson Cano, 2B
9. Melky Cabrera, CF
Edes: "the most notable change is Hideki Matsui batting 6th instead of in the 5 hole, where he has batted 15 times in the previous 16 games. Jorge Posada, who is 3 for 6 (.500) against Daisuke Matsuzaka this season, is in the 5-hole, while Matsui, who is 3 for 33 (.091) in his last 10 games and 0 for 5 with a walk against Daisuke, is batting 6th."
Shit, we are 5.5 up , they should have to put up with you......
ReplyDeleteYou're right! I hope Amy stops in to read that. She's outnumbered, but they're "outnumbered" in the standings.
"ftr, it isn't the celebrating that bothers me (though both bot and jtc could calm down a tad or five), it's the hypocrisy."
ReplyDeleteI know what you're sayin'.
But when I said "Joba-fied", I meant that Yankee fans are just so wrapped up in Joba-mania, they think they've somehow won something because of it. Like, "Red Sox? pssht. We got Joba. Joba, baby, Joba. Enough said. Yankees, baby."
NESN's showing the encore of the first Red Sox/Yankees game at Fenway back in April, when the Red Sox were wearing the green jerseys. They showed the bottom of the 8th, when the Sox were down 6-2 then came back and took the lead, 7-6. They show Hideki Okajima up in the bullpen, with everyone on edge because he's not Papelbon and nobody's seen much of him, except the home run in KC from John Buck.
ReplyDeleteThey went to commerical, then came back, showing the top of the 8th.
I guess somebody accidentally hit the shuffle button.
We got Joba. Joba, baby, Joba. Enough said. Yankees, baby.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, did you see that story -- at work, can't find the link right now -- that the Yankees are petitioning the Hall of Fame to lower its entry requirement to 16 major league innings?
What's up, Jere, no mention of "that Yankees tradition of dignity and class" re: aggravated sexual assault of a child?
ReplyDeleteYou're slipping, man.
Well I was gonna say that maybe the Sox could get credit for the win in that damn Mel Hall game that me, you, and L were at! But, yeah, Hall and Polonia are in the Yankee "Hall of Class" with Kekich and Petersen.
ReplyDeleteish: I was in and out of the room during the replay of that game just now--it did seem fishy timing-wise. Thanks for the info.
NESN just had "BrendEn Donnelly" on the screen. Terrible job.
ReplyDeletehi all, i'm modding tonight and i'm expecting lots of trolls, so bear with me if i'm not as fast as usual.
ReplyDeletethat damn Mel Hall game that me, you, and L were at!
ReplyDeleteOne of our funniest YS memories. You even would have dug my performance.
Although you were, what, 8 years old? :)
I disagree.
ReplyDeleteKekich and Petersen and their wives were all concenting adults (probably tough for the kids involved, though). Hall's and Polonia's victims were not.
Great quote from Donnelly in Extra Bases. Was in the clubhouse and said he was glad to be back, because he was getting sick of listening to Orsillo and Remy!
ReplyDelete"Kekich and Petersen and their wives were all concenting adults"
ReplyDeleteAll I said was it doesn't exactly fit in with their supposed classy tradition. Less of an offense, yes, but they all go into the "Mel Hall of Classiness."
L--I was TWICE that age in '91. Almost:) I could almost drive an automobile.
People still pronouncing Joba with a long O: Tina "the other TC" Cervasio, and NECN's Crazy Chris Collins.
ReplyDeleteThere will be more trolls in The Bar where I'll be tonight -- ostensibly a Yankee place, but enough B fans to make it comfy.
ReplyDeleteZ/S, I'll be around to moderate when I'm done here :)
ReplyDeleteTime for Pettitte to be a big game pitcher -- like he was in Game 6 in 2001.
ReplyDeletesorry about that folks. slip of the click.
ReplyDeleteThat's okay. Coco is not, though, scratched from the lineup tonight. So Jacoby is in!
ReplyDeleteNow you see (if you saw) why we need moderation.
ReplyDeleteCoco's loss is my gain :)
ReplyDeleteToo bad to be playing this series w/o Manny, tho. But hopefully he'll be in good form for October.
All I saw was the entire comments section missing. Is somebody effing with you already?
ReplyDeleteYeah, they've been around all week, and of course tonight they're in high gear. Whatever.
ReplyDeleteIn fact it appears one of these trolls has nothing better to do but hang out with a Red Sox blog and post comments that don't show up. It's really very sad. It must be very boring in his mother's basement.
ReplyDeleteWait, so in Canada, do you see the Remy local commercials for NewPro and and Eastern clothing, or just the Sovereign Bank ones?
ReplyDeleteFor the last week or two, Keith, a Yankees fan, has been watching all of the Red Sox games (even while his Yankees are playing some other team), commenting in real time on this blog both about the Boston game and in response to various posters here.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's right, engaging in conversation with people (he has a thing for Jere apparently) who have no idea he's even alive. He might as well talk to a pile of carrots. Maybe he does.
The most obvious move for him now is to admit to himself he's a Red Sox fan, come out of the closet and proclaim his true orientation to his family and friends -- he's been a Boston lover from birth -- and embrace his new lifestyle.
Say It Loud
I'm Red And I'm Proud ...
Wait, so in Canada, do you see the Remy local commercials for NewPro and and Eastern clothing, or just the Sovereign Bank ones?
ReplyDeleteIf it's the NESN feed, we see the whole NESN broadcast, all the ads, whatever's on.
But we only get the game itself, no pre-game, no post-game. I don't recall seeing Remy doing those other ads, just the bank. Are they on during the game?
But we don't always get the NESN feed. You know I'm hoping for it tonight!
L-- From what I've discovered from seeing NESN in New Haven, and then in Boston, there are different local ads (beyond the local cable company ads which are different for every town, I'm sure) for different places. (Which is normal, I guess.) mlb.tv picks up one area, I don't know how they choose.
ReplyDeleteSo me (and Matty) recall the "Lincoln Mercury of Raynham" jingle, yet my girlfriend has never heard of it.
In Boston, anyway, yes, during the game, we also see Remy and his wife doing a windows company ad, as well as one where he chats with the dude from Eastern Clothing, who use a still shot of their logo on a helmet at Fenway, from before there were seats on the Monster.
You all might be getting the "southern New England" feed of NESN, or something.
Ah-ha. Then no, we haven't seen the very local ads. Only Sovreign Bank, where some brilliant director somehow managed to get Remy to say all the copy w/o mangling any of it, and he looks about 10 years younger.
ReplyDeleteRemy's wife is in ads?? Holy cow, I can't even picture that.
"Hi, we're the Remys."
ReplyDeleteIt's funny stuff. I'll have to GooTube these other Remy ads so you can see them. (And run to the store and buy these incredible products that he honestly believes in!)
He does do a good job on the bank ones, save for a few times when he emphasizes the wrong word, a la Bill White.
where some brilliant director somehow managed to get Remy to say all the copy w/o mangling any of it
ReplyDeleteMultiple takes. Multiple. And then splice the good words together.
Well sure multiple takes. But during the game, Remy could say those ads a thousand times and never get one clean take. Brilliant editing must be the key.
ReplyDeleteoh i forgot it's espn tonight. good. at least i'm safe from yes.
ReplyDeletegod. dave o'brien, sut and dusty baker.
ReplyDeletei will remind myself that it's better than yes...
Evening folks from London - we have all three games on TV over here.
ReplyDeleteIn my own British fatalist way, I'm dreading this game.
Sutcliffe. God I hate this idiot.
Sutcliffe. God I hate this idiot.
ReplyDeleteThat only shows your intelligence.
But why dread this game? I'm so excited about it! This is the weekend where we bury them.
Wow -- ESPN sent out the Three Stooges out for this one.
ReplyDeleteI guess it would be worse if Berman was in for O'Brien.
Because I'm British and we fear losing much more than we embrace winning!
ReplyDeleteOh, and Dice-K's recent performances don't encourage me.
But I'm awake and ready to go!
I HAVE NESN ON MLBTV!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI guess it would be worse if Berman was in for O'Brien.
ReplyDeleteNot for me. O'Brien is a major MUMS guy. He'll have less opp'y tonight, but he'll manage to get a few shots in, even tho Manny's not playing.
I think Dice-K's recent work is cause for concern. I'm not concerned about him in the long term, but I am tonight. And between him and Wakfield, I'm a little anxious about our starting pitching.
ReplyDeleteI must be pretty British myself.
Company coming over. Watching the game on "tape delay" sucks. Will be coming over here to sneak a peak!
ReplyDeleteWell yes, Dice-K doesn't inspire confidence right now. But I have a good feeling about tonight. Even if he stumbles, our offense will pick him up.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those games where we get it on both NESN and ESPN. But we're only going to ESPN if NESN, like, breaks or something.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe I have NESN! I'm doing a little dance...
ReplyDeleteI also have work, but will try to avoid that until after the game.
wow - 3 pitches on gameday and damon isn't even in the box on nesn.
ReplyDeleteyou'll get no breaking news from me tonight!!!
heh, dusty baker says fenway fans "respect the captain". meaning CI.
ReplyDeletedusty, you get out much?
Hurrah! An out. 26 to go!
ReplyDeletei hope you are all listening for "clogging the bases".
ReplyDeleteRemy making the point a few times that already tonight Dice is throwing the split and overhand curve -- two nice ones to CI, he missed the first one badly.
ReplyDeleteLast time, it was fb, cut fb and slider only.
Much better array of pitches even this early.
1st & 2nd, 1 out. i hope there aren't many bridge-jumpers here tonight. it will irritate the hell out of me.
ReplyDeleteI just get so irritated by the I.I.I.I stutter of Sutcliffe. They keeping him off the bottle.
ReplyDeleteWe lucky people get him for the World Series.
oh great, alex hbp
ReplyDeletetoo close at second, dusty shoulda gone to first
ReplyDeleteWe lucky people get him for the World Series.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to that, no one wins in the post-season. It's either Fox or ESPN, so it all sucks.
come on, houdini.
ReplyDeleteI'm not jumping off any bridges, but I'm, y'know, kicking the girders a little bit.
ReplyDeleteTrue I-Girl.
ReplyDeleteWould you like to be electrocuted or lethally injected?
Sut or McCarver.
I also doubt that was a routine DP?
here's an idea.
ReplyDeletetake a deep breath.
look at the standings.
look at what inning we're in.
look at the scoreboard.
step away from the bridge.
nice play from yook. let's get shemp and start a-hittin'.
ReplyDeleteYes LL, I agree. It's L-girl, btw. Blogger's lower case makes it look weird.
ReplyDeleteWell, I meant in frustration. Not as in thinking about taking a leap.
ReplyDeleteBut that force out at home helps.
Oh good Z/S, I'm glad. I did think the girders meant contemplating a swan dive.
ReplyDeleteThe force at home was a big.
pull me back from the bridge dice-k...
ReplyDeletetigers in minnesota tonight.
ReplyDeletePHEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
ReplyDeleteYES! Houdini. Excellent.
ReplyDelete87 comments and we're only through HALF an inning! This is certainly sox/yankees.
ReplyDeleteMan. 27 agonizing pitches. But no runs. Whew.
ReplyDeleteA mini-choke from the Chokers.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone told these chumps that the Yankees are not leading this division?
ReplyDeleteAnd I never knew Dusty Baker was THIS bad as a pundit.
Jeter. Bad throw. LOL
pettitte allowing 5 runs per 9 innings against the sox this year.
ReplyDeletei'll take that.
ERROR JETER
ReplyDeleteTANGIBLE.
Let's go for 1,000 (comments).
ReplyDeletewhat's our record? around 500?
ReplyDeletetoo bad some of our big commenters are at the game tonight! (but good for them.)
That's Captain Tangible to you, RS.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I'll be awake that long to see 1000 comments.
ReplyDeletedusty baker is worse in the booth than he was as a manager! and that is saying something.
ReplyDeleteLL, I was just thinking that you must be a real night owl. I can never stay awake for west coast games, and that's only a 3 hr difference, you've got 5.
ReplyDeletewhat's our record? around 500?
ReplyDeleteLooks like
568 on Aug 25
and
521 on Aug 24
"tough ground balls"?????
ReplyDeleteDusty excuses Jeter. Surprise.
ReplyDeleteLugo HAS to make that double play!
Double standards. Tangibly.
CI again bobbles the ball, unable to get two. Lugo on second for the Dr.
ReplyDeleteDusty excuses Jeter. Surprise.
ReplyDeleteLugo HAS to make that double play!
Right.
No way for Sunday l-girl. Work the following day.
ReplyDeleteJust watching my miserable (English) football team to watch tomorrow. Better to be half asleep for that.
Come on Mikey.
If you are certain no one is better than Jeter, then if he can't make a play, it simply cannot be made by anyone.
ReplyDeleteSo the excuses come easy.
Lord L, you must have missed my comment above - it's L-girl. Same as your two Ls. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is an L!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh sheesh, I'm sorry. Now I'm really confused!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Lots of Ls all around. :>)
I'm way behind on comments, but I saw Jere talking about "Lincoln Mercury of Raynham" and it reminded me of watching a few games on NESN from my grandmother's house way up in Caribou, Maine, and seeing that commerical.
ReplyDeleteThis is a grinder so far. About 35 minute first inning, and total there were 0 runs, 1 hit, and 2 errors.
If you are certain no one is better than Jeter, then if he can't make a play, it simply cannot be made by anyone.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was going to say about "hard ground balls". If Jeter can't make the play, it must be a hard ground ball, by definition. I'm not sure they even realize they do it.
Get the roid out.
ReplyDeleteFor LL and L-Girl's sake!
Give HGH Hell.
How come HGH is still playing? Shouldn't he have been banned for admitting to steroids?
ReplyDeleteJust wondering, did anyone here see the comment glitch earlier?
ReplyDeleteIt's a race between the number of comments here and Dice's pitch count...
ReplyDeleteNo glitch seen here.
ReplyDeleteMissed it.
ReplyDeletea race between the number of comments here and Dice's pitch count...
ReplyDelete:-)
Sit down Canoe!
ReplyDeleteIs it me, or has Dice-K been walking too many all season. I get to see about 25 games per season?
ReplyDeleteOff you go Cano. No muttering please. That's not cricket!
LL, it is not you. It has dogged him (and us) all year.
ReplyDeleteAnyone have the numbers on that?
But he just said "wicket".
ReplyDeleteI did not see the glitch.
ReplyDeleteI assume it's impossible for you to change your name to a capital L.
Dice-K is going to get the nick Dicey unless he throws a few more strikes.
Dusty Baker caring about someone's arm.
ReplyDeleteWood and Prior say "hello Dusty"
Z/S, it actually is an upper-case L. If you go into a different view, you can see it. Like if you go back to the post and just scroll down through comments.
ReplyDeleteBut for whatever reason, in this view, all names are in all lower case.
If I could change it, I def'y would.
At the start of play today, he had 184.1 IP, 70 BB, 179 K. WHIP was 1.33.
ReplyDeleteDismissed!
ReplyDeleteWood and Prior say "hello Dusty"
ReplyDeleteI was about to post these exact words!!!
Wood and Prior say "hello Dusty"
ReplyDeletethat quote is probably not an exact transcription.
Thanks for answering that, all.
ReplyDeleteIsh, did you see a problem w/ comments?
We do irony in jolly old england, redsock!
ReplyDeleteAnd understatement. Brilliant British understatement. So effective.
ReplyDeleteOK, gotta go for a little bit. Will check back later. Looks like a good game so far!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy, all. Sorry not to add to the fun tonight. I'll be sipping suds in sorta enemy territory.
ReplyDeleteYOOOOOOOOOOOK
ReplyDeletedusty baker now realises that if you get banged up and play through injury your performance drops.
ReplyDeleteBy jove, I think he's got it.
Good hit Youk!
Enjoy Z/S!
ReplyDeleteIsh, did you see a problem w/ comments?
ReplyDeleteNo, but I went out for a sub run between 6:30 and 7. Just in time for first pitch.
As Yook lines one to right center to get things started... Come on, Drew!
Holy shit our TV just went out!!
ReplyDeletewhew. it's back.
ReplyDeletethanks ish :)
ReplyDeletesut: "it's the passion. why has he [pettitte] been so much better in september? it starts in january when he's working out so much harder than anybody else."
ReplyDelete????
Damn these people who start working out in January. Why don't others think of that?
ReplyDeleteJust keep that pitch count rising and rising. I want the blood of Joba.
I got to the comments just to see l-girl's tv went out. Oh, the Trama! Glad it's back.
ReplyDeletedusty baker now realises that if you get banged up and play through injury your performance drops.
ReplyDeleteBy jove, I think he's got it.
Nah, he's just saying that so someone else will hire him as a manager.
sut: "it's the passion. why has he [pettitte] been so much better in september? it starts in january when he's working out so much harder than anybody else."
ReplyDeletewow, i can hear that as clear as day in that idiot's voice.
... almost a PASSEDBALLA!!!
ReplyDeleteTrama?! Oh, the Trama, indeed.
ReplyDeleteHey, I have something in common with Dusty Baker! Dusty: "I want to see this Ellsbury guy." :)
ReplyDeleteNick, I thought you were doing an accent. The trama, the drama, in Canada they're eating pasta. Pasta rhymes with last-a.
ReplyDeleteMust be time to praise Jeter now! Wasn't that a great throw to 2nd?
ReplyDeleteHere we go....
ReplyDeleteLaura, I love your boy!
ReplyDeleteAccording to this moron, it isn't the Yankees hitting won the games it should that has them winning. It is the mythical presence of Clemens.
ReplyDeleteJacoby - yes.
Cashman is a freakin' psychic. He knew....
ReplyDeleteThat's what turned it around for the Yankees - the "presence of Roger Clemens in the clubhouse"! Not his performance on the mound - the presence in the clubhouse.
ReplyDeleteThe chemistry changed, the feeling changed... and here they're going to the playoffs in October.
So says Rick Sutcliffe.
YEAH!!! That's my boy!
ReplyDeleteLBJ
ReplyDeleteLBJ
4 more runs
4 more runs
(Nick, me too :) )
ReplyDeleteRick Sutcliffe has just fired Co Co Crisp.
ReplyDeleteWhat a man.
Talk about psychic, Sut knows NYY is going to the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteThey are hyping Bobby Valentine live from Japan like he's the Baseball Gods themselves. Bobby V will be holding forth about "what's wrong with Dice K".
That was an amazing job of hitting by Sir Lyndon! Slapping at that breaking ball. That's a hard one to hit.
ReplyDeletethru 2 innings, pettitte has thrown more pitches than dice (48 to 44).
ReplyDeleteLord L, are you up on the nicknames, or is all this talk of LBJ and Lyndon confusing you? There's a glossary link on the side.
ReplyDeleteValentine.
ReplyDeleteSTFU.
OMG! I don't care about the Bruins right now!!!! (admittedly never, but REALLY not now.)
ReplyDeleteIs NESN talking about the Bruins??
ReplyDeleteESPN has Bobby Valentine on. It's like there's no game at all.
No L-Girl.
ReplyDeleteStill trying to think through the Jacoby / LBJ reference...
two outs while Valentine slags him off.
ReplyDeleteNice one.
It's a bit silly, but it has really caught on.
ReplyDeleteLBJ = Laura's Boy Ellsbury
LBJ was Lyndon Johnson, US Prez.
Ellsbury = LBJ = Lyndon
(And I'm Laura.)
We get more from Bobby Valentine.
ReplyDeleteTruly we are blessed.
YEAH!! Ks Alex to get his 1st easy outing. Nice.
ReplyDeleteNESN had two Bruins on -- not the smoothest of talkers, those two.
ReplyDeleteThat's no hits in that innings. Valentine's karma works.
ReplyDeleteCan we get someone on to slag off Drew now please....
K-Rod!
ReplyDeleteBobby V talking about how Japanese fans are so disappointed in Dice-K's performance this year, especially that he is not throwing complete games. That is sad to hear.
ReplyDeleteThankfully they're gone, but they had the game muted and blathering on with a couple of guys who I presume are Bruinsesers.
ReplyDeleteEmma's playing ghost baseball in the living room. I'm pitching to her and she is all 9 Sox batters (they're up 5-0 with no outs).
I've never seen the cabbage patch kid commercial before. I like it (yeah, I know the advertising onslaught..but it's a good one).
ReplyDeletePut Emma in!
ReplyDeleteNick, ESPN is doing the same thing, but w/ Bobby Valentine substituting for the Bruins.
cabbage patch ad? what is it?
ReplyDeletePLEASE GET THIS MAN OFF MY SCREEN SO I CAN WATCH THE GAME.
ReplyDeleteplease
pleeeeease?
NESN announced that ortiz was the [insert sponsor] player of the week.
ReplyDeletethe commercial.... oh yeah!
1:30 in the morning in the UK. This is endurance. Valentine, Baker, Sutcliffe. Talking over a big hit by Tizzle.
ReplyDeleteThis game has everything you'd expect: a Jeter error, a Yankee rally consisting of weakly hit balls, Lugo screwing up, Drew flailing at strike three, Dice getting in and out of jams.
ReplyDeleteNow a Papi double. Woohoo
FLO!!! Papi hits a double and Bobby Valentine is just chattering away.
ReplyDeleteit's a geico commercial about a cabbage patch kid who grows up and gets car insurance. Whoever their agency is is quite clever.
ReplyDeletedamn!!!
Oh, wait, there playing a ball game.
ReplyDeleteLET IT FLO!!!
ReplyDeleteDamn, Papi was dead by 3 feet. And he could have busted his knee coming into the plate. Not good.
ReplyDeleteWho the hell sends Ortiz on that hit? Bizarre.
ReplyDeleteSveumed.
ReplyDeleteI like the Geico commercials. A few seasons ago some of them were great. Do you remember the fake soap opera? "I saved... I thought that meant something to you!"
ReplyDeleteThere was also the fake reality show, "Tiny House".
I haven't seen the cabbage patch, I'll look for it.
I thought that was the last question!
ReplyDeleteremy says you don't take that chance with 0 out, but you do with 1 out.
ReplyDeletenot with ortiz. not even with one out. not with the concerns about his legs.
just a dumb dumb dumb call from hale.
why not 1sdt and 3rd with 1 out and yook up? what's wrong with that? in the fucking 3rd inning?
Finally. He's finally gone. But now they have to talk about his appearance.
ReplyDeleteAnd I can't mute while I'm modding. Bah.
re Clemens "6 and six with a 4.45 ERA. Probably not what the yankees expected"..
ReplyDeleteoh right, the clubhouse effect.
PLEASE GET THIS MAN OFF MY SCREEN SO I CAN WATCH THE GAME
ReplyDeleteTHANK GOD! Can we PLEASE get back to the game now?
They walked Youk to get to Drew.
ReplyDeleteOh Sut.
And Drew gets the run in by hook or by crook.
These guys are good.
Praise be HGH!
Nice! Thanks HGH!
ReplyDeletedude, these guys are major league fielders.
ReplyDeletewish they'd held papi. ah well...
