Legend has it that Kevin Millar and members of the Red Sox did shots of Jack Daniels before Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS. They won that game -- and so they did shots before each of the next seven games -- and won the World Series.
In that spirit, Laura and I did JD shots tonight before 8 PM.
It worked!
We'll keep doing shots before every game this month (and November?). That's the kind of fans we are -- always willing to sacrifice for the good of the team!
You JUST announce that NOW?!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteI would've boughten a 2-6 before the game! Of course, I would've finished it by now :P however, I still need to pick up a mickey before game 6!
I announced it 4:01 PM in the Game 5 Thread.
ReplyDelete(Better get your ass some rally juice by Saturday though.)
I was probably too drunk to notice it then :P...and WAAAAAAAy to drunk to notice it now!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBut fuck yeah...I'll be home Sat Nite - with an alky father, no need to "buy" anything - we should have about 100 different bottles to shoot as well as plenty of in-game drinks. I've got a buddy coming over so not sure how much threading i'll do. definately will post tomorrow tho! and be checking every 15 min for updates as im procrastinating for the exams! haha
These post-game interviews are just hilarious. First the F-bomb, and then Manny looking like Namath laying by the pool in Miami, laughing his ass off.
ReplyDeleteI am going to Fenway at 5 AM on Saturday. I'm pumped. :D
ReplyDeletecolbEEr at 2...night all!
ReplyDelete(sooooo done drinkin for the nite!)
first off I need to give tim props for busting out with "I would've boughten"... takes me back to my small town Upstate NY youth. We also said "crick" instead of "creek", and pronounced "roof" as "ruhf".
ReplyDeleteSecond: a comment on the 2004 shots: Millar, in a post-championship interview, said that they did not actually down a shot of alcohol before the game, that would have been crazy, it was more like a ritual taste-a-few-drops thing. Hate to burst your bubble...

ReplyDeleteYes, after Mirror's first statement didn't get total laughs and the media acted like they played drunk, he backed off of the claim. Whatever.
I am not a whiskey drinker (prefer my alcohol either in clear forms like vodka or gin or in the form or beer or wine), but I may just have to take one for the team and buy a bottle of JD for the weekend.

Yeah , and he didn't inhale. a few drops that would just be pansy ass.....and there was nothing pansy ass about the 04 squad.....
and Becketts old girl is smokin'
So is it just 1 shot before the game?
ReplyDeleteWe did one shot before the game.
ReplyDelete(The "rules" are somewhat flexible!)
Well I got the JD today so we are ready on our front.
ReplyDeleteAmy, I don't drinken my alcohol that way either, but after our niece's boyfriend boughted the JD, well, and what with Cherishing The Cabin and all, a gulp before the game seemed me likey. Plus it workded! Let's all getted behind this idear.
ReplyDeleteYeah , and he didn't inhale.
There you go. I say the 1st story was true, the 2nd was spin.
LOL, Laura! Just found this post while scrounging around for stuff to keep my head busy in the EIGHT hours until the first pitch. I think I will bring the JD to our friends along with the beer and wine.
ReplyDeleteI now recall the story about the team having a drink before the game. (My memory is NOT what it used to be.) I didn't remember that it was Jack Daniels though.
