He don't make sense as a DH (as a right handed double-play machine and at least not until we find out if [the corpse of] Ortiz can still hit - which I'm inclined to believe it/he will), he's a liability at third and completely untested at first. And I'm not on the Beltre bandwagon - I'm happy with no-more big trades (except for Nady and a LHP, but those aren't big) and seeing how Kotchman handles first on a regular basis (whose 2008 numbers, at least, are close to those you mention for Lowell - not something to get worked up over, I know, but at least his glove works). For $12 million, I just want more than a liability. Even a lovable liability like Lowell.Geoff Millenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06799899897657211971noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-51226424652106125362009-12-21T18:19:18.824-08:002009-12-21T18:19:18.824-08:00Geoff Millener said...

We re-sign VMart and finally retire 'Tek in 2011 (hopefully) - it would make sense to have an almost ready backup waiting in the wings. And extra bench space + even $3 million (though more would be nice, obviously) this year would be better than the corpse of Mike Lowell, as much as I love him.
