No, and I can't imagine why it would.

Accuracy of reporting can't be judged when writers apply completely different standards to different players.

Also, frankly, I don't care what people say about Manny. I mean that as a statement of simple fact: I do not care. I loved both his performance and his personal style as a Red Sock. He made our team great and he made me laugh, and he often exuded joy for the great game.

He gave me far, far more reasons to love him than to dislike him. So what LA or Boston sports media - or self-styled ethicists - says about him is completely inconsequential to me.laura khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05524593142290489958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-74759379782972783792010-09-04T11:34:59.471-07:002010-09-04T11:34:59.471-07:001) Does this change your interpretation of some of...1) Does this change your interpretation of some of the events/rumors/libel that surrounded Manny during his time here. (Plus Manny did not refer to anything specific other than the Yook slap.)

MUMS also refers to the extent/duration/vehemence of media/fan comments, i.e., when Varitek, Nixon, or Ortiz jog to first, the 'EEI screamers go crack open another beer, and when Manny jogs, it's the end of the fucking world and a talk-show topic for a week.

2) Do you think this apology is sincere, an attempt to preemptively head off some criticism from the media?

No idea. I.E., do you think some of what you previously considered MUMS may have, in fact, been accurate reporting?

2) Do you think this apology is sincere, an attempt to preemptively head off some criticism from the media?

3) Does the way things ended in LA (the final game ejection, the PED suspension, the refusal to speak to the media) have any bearing on how you viewed his time here.

For the record, if you go back through this blog's archives you can find me arguing that he was attempting to force a trade out of Boston, and was acting in a way that could effect the team adversely. I never believed he tanked or didn't play his hardest during the actual games, at least not to an extent greater than that everyone else does. I don't think the three called strikes from Mo were anything other than a bad at bat; everyone has them, I don't think it was intentional. I appreciate the apology from Manny, as I do think he had stuff to apologize for. And I attended the second (third? can't remember) Dodgers - Red Sox game this year and cheered like hell.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14670045693768623299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-30102710029404777042010-09-04T08:58:07.584-07:002010-09-04T08:58:07.584-07:00Youk is away from the team tending to his "in...Youk is away from the team tending to his "injury"... what a puss.mattymattyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08291132296368578632noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-9781012197437016612010-09-03T21:02:31.824-07:002010-09-03T21:02:31.824-07:00Good for him ....I always respected him as a ballp...Good for him ....I always respected him as a ballplayer..It would be nice to respect him as a person as well....

I hope Yook says something tommorrow...9caseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14214364466933716867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-30354162027842295932010-09-03T20:33:20.285-07:002010-09-03T20:33:20.285-07:00I'm gonna say he's probably trying to just...I'm gonna say he's probably trying to just get everyone off his back. . . . They--being the media and anti-Manny fans--will never accept that the team screwed up, or that the media made shit up, or that the fallout was anyone's fault but clubhouse cancer extraordinaire, Manny Ramirez. However unfair, that's how it is. Manny has apparently realized this.

Then again, this could be a play he's making to try and return to the team if his option isn't picked up/contract isn't extended.Philiphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11371983674011809680noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-33616062099838969982010-09-03T19:16:00.405-07:002010-09-03T19:16:00.405-07:00Its probably kinda hard to spin "Its all my f...Its probably kinda hard to spin "Its all my fault" against him.

Either he is lying or it took him too long to admit it.allanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04673233312198832937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730822.post-38990127555838225632010-09-03T18:14:36.108-07:002010-09-03T18:14:36.108-07:00I'm surprised the Boston media is even reporti...I'm surprised the Boston media is even reporting this.
