A source close to Tejada, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Tejada would like to be traded to a team on the East Coast, and specifically mentioned the Boston Red Sox as his choice destination.which has been removed from the AP story here.
So, Manny for Miggy, anyone? I'm torn.
I am on board with the Manny and Miggy switchie - even!
ReplyDeleteIf it is possible to keep Manny AND get Miggy we could have one of the bestline ups EVER. Clement and Youlk for Miggy! Hell throw in a prospect or two.. but can you imagine:

Manny
Miggy
wOOt!
i should add that i love manny and do not like tejada (though i have not met either man and am going by their public personas only).
ReplyDeletefrom both his oakland and baltimore days, tejada seems like a whiny crybaby -- and i delight in yelling at the tv screen every single time he makes an out or fails to grab a groundball.
but he'd be one hell of a shortstop for us. and it would be easier to find a fill-in left fielder.
As I said yesterday, I just don't see Baltimore being dumb enough to get rid of Tejada, especially to an AL East competitor. And that's even if they got someone like Manny in exchange.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to flirt with the idea, though. And I must say, it's awfully fishy that Tejada's statement came to light mere hours after Renteria was traded. Maybe the FO knows something we don't?
Like Mouse said, only reverse it - I would hate to see Manny with an AL East competitor. Better the evil you know than the evil you don't, I say. I'd be high on getting both of them for some pitching, but somehow I doubt that's going to happen. Also, does Manny even WANT to go to Baltimore?
