Nick Cafardo of the Globe says that what BP's Will Carroll wrote about J.D. Drew "is consistent with information the Globe has received". ... All Theo Epstein will say is: We're working with the language on the deal with Boras and we're expecting to get it done early in the week."
Daisuke Matsuzaka is back in Japan. He intends to return to Boston with his wife in January to look for a place to live and then begin training in southern California. Dice said the contract process
was mentally draining. It was tough. I'm not used to having an agent, and leaving everything up to him was something that was new to me. ... I know the expectations will be high. The fans in Boston gave me a great reception and I look forward to being able to please them. Here's a shocker: Murray Chass of the New York Times -- at one time a respected baseball reporter -- simply makes shit up. In this case, it's in no small part because of his white-hot hatred of the Red Sox. (After his mind became seriously unglued after October 2004, Chass is little more than a bitter old man banging haphazardly on a typewriter.)
Redsock says . . . Pitchers and catchers report on February 16, 2007
ReplyDeleteAh, that sounds great! Let's get ready and Play Ball!
Jack , well said...
ReplyDeleteThere is someting about being apart of the nation that still gives me chills.......And your words also just did that..
Merry Christmas to all!!!!!!
Hey Redsock and L-girl,
ReplyDeleteWhat Jack said. Happy hols to one and all (including Gutch, wherever you be).
Jack, what an extremely nice thing to say. I have it on good authority that Redsock was very touched.
ReplyDeleteWhen you say "would have been far lonelier" - that is exactly what I've always said about our wmtc community (at my blog) re our move to Canada. It would have been a far lonelier - and scarier! - experience without our online friends. So I really know what you mean.

This is truly a great community, not to mention a vital source of information for someone like me who has long since lost patience with the mainstream sports media. Thanks everyone!
Happy holidays, happy New Year, happy everything. Here's to winning a new trophy and the AL East in 2007.
Right on.
ReplyDeletethank you for providing a wonderful, smart, provocative hang-out for a Red Sox fan who desperately needs some discourse with people to understand and care. This past year would have been far lonlier for me without it and your daily dose of passion and attitude.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Jack. Your words mean a lot to me.
This blog is much richer -- and more entertaining -- thanks to the addition of other voices. And our differences of opinion make for a more thoughtful discussion.
I do what I do -- sometimes thinking people can find what I do elsewhere -- but I'm happy that a decent amount of people like JoS enough to come by everyday. There's nothing a writer likes more than being read.
I'll repeat what I've said before: You don't have to be a Red Sox fan to comment here (and you don't have to actually start a blog to get a Blogger ID), but you do have to be respectful.
