SchillingI would have thought that Lopez (who edged Manny Delcarmen for the final spot) was redundant because of the other lefties, Okajima and Romero. Lopez is out of options, but he should slip through waivers as teams will still have their Opening Day rosters in place.

With a 12-man staff, we'll have a 4-man bench: Mirabelli, Cora, Pena, Hinske.
Lopez instead of MDC. Huh.
ReplyDeleteWe really don't think the Royals and Mariners will even come close to challenging us the first week, do we?
Am I right the only reason we have Mirabelli is because of his relationship with Wakefield?
ReplyDeleteHe didn't fill in for Tek well at ALL last year. Ugh.
Tek didn't fill in well for Tek last year.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope they both get their averages up.
Am I right the only reason we have Mirabelli is because of his relationship with Wakefield?
ReplyDeleteThat's not even a reason anymore. There's no rationale.

ReplyDeleteHey, he's The Stud Who Hits Bombs!
I cannot imagine there is another reason.
Wakefield loves him and his confidence with Belly back there means something, but if Varitek gets hurt, we are seriously fucked.
Theo was on WEEI during the 6th inning today. Remember Lopez basically took Timlin's spot and as for the 3 lefties, the Royals and Rangers have a few lefties in their lineup so it gives them a little bit more flexibility (or at least that is the club position).
ReplyDeleteAs for Tek and Mirabelli, look for both of them to bounce back this year.
Thank goodness no MDC......He maybe the most overrated pitcher in the Red Sox system...
