Guess correctly and win a copy of "Big Papi: My Story of Big Dreams and Big Hits". The Red Sox schedule is here.
Rules:
1. The game must be played at Fenway Park -- don't choose any road games.
2. Post your guess in comments. There are no tiebreakers, so don't pick a game/date that has already been chosen.
3. Enter before the end of May. One game per person.
4. What else? To avoid problems with times of posts, you can't pick a game once it has started.
Thanks to St. Martin's Press for the book. I posted an excerpt back on March 27.

The next game I go to is Thursday. I'll take Thursday. May 3.
ReplyDeleteI'll take May 18th against Atlanta, if only becasue Wickman has already blown two saves...
ReplyDeleteMEmorial Day, Indians.
ReplyDeleteJune 3rd, against the Yankees.
ReplyDeleteAlso, only one guess per person.
ReplyDeleteSo, for example, if there is no Flo Walk-Off on May 3, Jere is out.
My son's birthday is on May 15, so I'll take that game (15-May, vs. Detroit) on his behalf.
ReplyDeleteMay 11 against the O's. (possibly a Lester start?)
ReplyDeleteYanks make the comeback (that we all know they will), and are 1/2 a game back on 9/30. Santana comes to town and pitches a complete game 2-hitter vs the Sox. It's 0-0 in the bottom of the ninth and Papi comes to the plate. On an 0-2 count, he lines a shot into the LF corner for an inside-the-park HR.*
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Vegas would give the last game of the season the longest odds, but I'll take it anyway...
Give me 9/30 vs. the Twins!
(* For the record, I'll take a plain-ole Ortiz bomb into the camera well in CF or any other dinger...not just the highly unlikely/just-short-of-impossible inside-the-park trip around the bases.)
Papi does it soon .... I'll take 5/1
ReplyDeleteI'll go with the long odds. It's not going to happen this season. Does that count?
ReplyDeleteDoes that count?
ReplyDeleteNo. Sorry.
May 12th.
ReplyDeleteShit (cuz I think it's probably short odds). June 1 vs. Yanks.
ReplyDeleteMay 17th against Detroit. Mark your calendars, because it's going to be a good game.
ReplyDeleteI'll throw my hat into the ring - June 14th vs. the Rockies.
ReplyDeleteFor Manny's birthday ... and mine:
ReplyDeleteMay 30th against Cleveland!
June 17th vs. the Giants
ReplyDeleteI'll guess May 19th against the Braves

ReplyDeleteMay 29 v. Cleveland
ReplyDeleteJust curious, what's the reasoning behind not allowing woti's "no walkoffs in '07" prediction? Seems legit to me.
ReplyDeleteMay 20th against the Braves. The Braves are lookin' good this season...
ReplyDeleteNote: The Red Sox have had 0 at bats in walkoff situations this season.
ReplyDeleteOpponents have also never been up with a chance to beat us with a walkoff hit, though they are 0 for 8 in opportunities to tie the game in the ninth at home. (Papelbon retired all 8.)
June 15
ReplyDeleteJuly 4 versus the D-Rays, because nothing says "Canadian Red Sox Blog Contest" like an Independence Day walk-off...
ReplyDeletemay 14th vs. detroit. dice-k start?
ReplyDeletefinal score: 6-4. papi homers with 2 out, 1 on in the 9th ;D
Somebody's gotta take Canada Day, July 1st!
ReplyDeleteaccudart takes May 16
ReplyDelete0 seems like a cop-out, though i suppose it is a guess of sorts. on the odd chance there is no walkoff, i'll figure out something else.
ReplyDelete***
right now, every home game in may is spoken for except the 2nd and 13th.
only 11 home games in june - 5 are taken.
Hey Redsock, There is guy here in Waterbury who is trying to get nesn on Comcast do you mind if I put the link to the ipetiton?
ReplyDeleteNo problem If you don't want me to..
Thanks
My birthday: June 13.
ReplyDelete9casey: sure, post a link.
ReplyDeleteI'll take the only game I'm going to in Boston (day after my birthday): June 2. I saw an Ortiz walkoff in person last year...does lightning strike twice?
ReplyDeleteHey all. If anybody has any free time I would appreciate if you signed this for me ....Thank You
ReplyDeleteWe are trying to get NESN in Waterbury,Ct and surrounding towns.
Thank You,
9casey
Hi,
I wanted to draw your attention to this important petition that I
recently signed:
"SOXLESS NATION"
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/SOXLESSNATION?e
I really think this is an important cause, and I'd like to encourage
you to add your signature, too. It's free and takes less than a minute of
your time.
Thanks!
---------------------------------------------
Once again, thanks for signing the petition!
Sincerely,
June 16th vs. San Fran.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I go with June 17 against the Giants.
ReplyDeleteI'll be there tomorrow MAy 2nd, so sign me up for that...

ReplyDeleteOkay trying this again, realizing that I was completely mixed up....
ReplyDeleteJuly 12, first game back from the All Star Break
I like Friday June 29 vs Gagne (Otsuka?) and the Rangers!
ReplyDeleteMay 13th if it's not taken yet!
ReplyDeleteI'll take the remaining game in June, if it's still available (I think June 12th).
ReplyDeleteI'll take July 2nd (vs. Rangers)... it'd be a great birthday present for my husband. :)
ReplyDeleteJuly 19th - Our first child is due that day! : ) Hopefully, the walkoff will be sooner - but I have a feeling about this day vs. White Sox at Fenway.
ReplyDeleteI'll take July 21 v. CWS
ReplyDeletenot sure if it's taken, but i'll grab 8/1 vs. Baltimore
ReplyDeleteIs July 14th still available? If so, please put me down for that. Happy Bastille Day... Vive le Papi!
ReplyDeletehey, is may 28 still available?
ReplyDeleteMay 28 is not available.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he'll hit a walk off before the next available date. But I'll take 7/01 vs Tex.
ReplyDeleteMay I have July 5?
ReplyDeleteGreat blog...I'm glad my brother let me know about it! Put me down for July 5th on the Papi contest.
ReplyDeleteI guess Zenslinger just asked for July 5th...so make it August 15 if possible.
ReplyDeletei REALLY did..from 1990 till he had his 1st daughter....now i just slap him around...he knows nothing about the sox
ReplyDeleteSeptember 5th
ReplyDeleteI'll take 7/15
ReplyDeleteI'll take 0802.
ReplyDeleteD

ReplyDeleteisis:
ReplyDeletewoti has tonight, 6/1.

August 13th
ReplyDeleteCan I pick July 31st instead?
ReplyDeleteI'll take July 17.
ReplyDeleteNo one has taken my birthday yet, lets go for July 18th.
ReplyDeleteI'll take July 22, Vermont Day.
ReplyDeleteAug 19th
ReplyDeleteI'll take 8/14
ReplyDeleteI, JohnC, will take July 20.

ReplyDeleteOops, didn't see the previous post.
ReplyDelete8/17 afternoon game.
Hopefully it won't take this long, but how about 9/26.
ReplyDeleteI decided to pick the smallest remaining date that was a prime number, and it turned out to be 9/11.
ReplyDeleteMay I please have September 3? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYup! Updated.
ReplyDeleteCan I have 29 Sept please?
ReplyDeleteI hope Santana pitches, I have tickets.
I would like to thank the Academy, my wife, my agent and the fact that nobody picked this date in the first go round.
ReplyDeleteWhile it is nice to win, for both the Sox and myself, I'll gladly donate the prize to tim, Pokerwolf or Dirty Water if he hits one this weekend.
