  1. 1). old pay Lenny DiNardo is rocking it for the A's, to the tune of a 2.16 ERA. Yet, we still have a much better bullpen. Pretty awesome.

2). Hope the weather's nicer in Boston than out here in Lowell, 'cuz it's really nasty. I wouldn't expect a game tonight, but weirder things have happened.

3). Yanks lost again, and their offense has looked DOA. Lead's back up to 8.5 games.

4). Anyone else just a teensy bit sad we have JD Drew in right? While Pena is a freakshow out there, giving Murphy, Moss or Ellsbury a chance out there, or even Andruw Jones if we wanted to go Nuclear at the deadline, would certainly give us more firepower.

It just smacks of the Renteria deal when we paid a lot more to block a rising star. I'm not giving up on Drew at all, because I know he'll snap out of his slump, but it does limit our options.

5). Why the hell isn't it 6:00 yet? I want to go home and nap prior to beisbol.

  2. 1) Good for him. He was snagged off of waivers or Rule 5 or something, wasn't he?

    2) We've gotten off easy on the weather issues so far -- at least compared to some.

    3) Die, Yanks.

    4) As a Drew optimist...yeah, a little bummed.

    5) Talk to Dr. Hawking.

  3. 3) Ditto.

As far as the rain, I have a good view facing out to the west, and, I guess it kinda looks brighter out there than it does overhead. Do what you will with that info.

  4. from MLB.com press pass Youkilis is leading all 1b players in Avg.(.338), Hits (44) and OBP (.435). Also he has gone 88 games since he last made an error at 1b. This year 279 chances with no errors is only behind Richie Sexson who has no errors in 291 chances.

In May is Youkilis is 3rd in the AL in BA (.404) only trailing Jeter (.431) and Oakland's Dan Johnson (.420). I knew he was on a roll but I didn't realize it was that hot of a roll.

On the pitching side, this will be the fourth game that Tavarez has started after a loss. Presently he is 1 and 2 in those games. He is the only starter who has a loss in those games also.

Because of Beckett's hot start Matsuzaka has yet to start a game after a loss. Schilling is 3 and 0 with 1 ND (a win), Beckett is 2 and 0 and Wakefield is 2 and 0.

Lenny was claimed off of waivers in Feb., I think Theo and them were trying to get him to the Paw Sox, but am not for sure. Good to see him doing well though. As long as he stinks vs the Sox.

  9. Double-header?! Whoo-hoo!

I hope it rains all day in the Toronto area, to make staying inside all day extra wonderful.

  10. No, it has to be warm and sunny between games, so we can sit outside, drink and grill dinner.

  11. I hope they get at least one game in tommorrow. Rain delay in Chicago, right now. Would probably hit @ 24 hours later in Boston? Of course if tomorrow's night game is washed out, then its possible they could just skip Becketts turn in the rotation and nobody from the minors would need to be called up.

  12. In the absence of another rainout, would we need a second spot start Monday, or would someone go on short rest?

Not necessarily. Depends what direction things are moving in.

Weather.com says it's cloudy with chance of showers in Boston tomorrow, clearing completely by late afternoon.

Looks like you'll have to take Friday off for that. Not me, of course, being an unemployed bum. :)

  15. Nope. So I think we're 8 up again, but I'm losing track with all these rainouts and DHs.
