Kason Gabbard (2.97, 152 ERA+) / Cliff Lee (5.95, 73 ERA+)
Continuing the Ramones theme: one night after "Carmona Not Glue" we have "Gabbard Gabbard Hey". 1, 2, 3, 4 ...
Gabbard is the third pitcher in Red Sox history to win his first five home starts, joining George Winter (1901) and Boo Ferriss (1945). In July, Gabbard is 3-0 with a 1.92 ERA, with 11 hits allowed in his past 28 innings.
RedSox.com:
Lee was hit hard again on Saturday in Texas, giving up seven runs on eight hits in 6.2 innings to lose his third consecutive start. In going 0-3 since July 6, he has allowed 19 earned runs in his past 16 innings (10.69 ERA). Lee already lost to Boston once this year, allowing three runs on six hits in five innings of a 5-3 defeat on May 28 at Fenway Park.
Rumor has it the yankees are shopping Damon.
ReplyDeleteI heard from a friend That has a friend who is friends with Bronson Arroyo.......Damon and Bronson, I guess are still good friends, That Damon said the clubhouse was a complete nightmare in New York.....
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from another you been messin around
They say you got a boy friend
Youre out late every weekend
Theyre talkin about you and its bringin me down
I guess I just could have said that
Odd. The media told me the MFY "stole" Damon from the Sox and we would rue the day he left for many many years. Could the media have been wrong?
ReplyDeleteThe Yanks signed him for 4 years. I want them to play him for 4 years!!!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't surprise me to hear that about the Yankee clubhouse, although who knows. Maybe they like it nice and dry. It's hard to imagine having that kind of overprofessional behavior surrounding what supposed to be a game, no matter how much business and money surround it. But what the hell do we know? Maybe they're having a grand old time in there.
ReplyDeleteI think Damon will recover some next year, especially if he has the chance to do so for someone else with the Yanks paying half his salary. But it's a little scary to think that we wanted to pay him $40m for...yep, four years.
Don't we have a no REO policy here?
ReplyDeleteStuff from ABenjamin:
ReplyDelete"It's raining here in Cleveland, in case you were interested. The tarp is on the field right now. ...
"Kason Gabbard spent most of the hour and a half that the media was in the clubhouse sleeping ... two padded desk-type chairs pulled together in front of his corner locker."
Curt Schilling makes his second rehab start today in Toledo. He will make a third rehab start on July 31 at Columbus before rejoining the Sox.

Are you telling me when you reading that , you weren't actually singing it......
Why isn't Crisp leading off..........
I was singing it ... thus leading to the newest rule:
ReplyDeleteNo REO!
(And no anything-even-faintly-resembling-REO!)
Start time about 7:35 sayeth the Glob.
ReplyDeleteTiz grounds out 4-3 and just about walks down the line to first. Will the Gotta Always Hustle Brigade bust a blood vessel on that one?
ReplyDeleteIf Manny did that, we'd still be hearing about it in 2013.
Kason's on pace to pitch 27 pitches this game if he keeps this up!
ReplyDeleteMManny!
ReplyDeleteBeing!
ReplyDeleteplow.
ReplyDeleteplow?
ReplyDeleteI dunno, it's my versatile onomatopoeia for everything awesome now. And when he crushed that one, it was a "plow!" (yeah, I'm whacked)
ReplyDeleteWMP shows how this whole baserunning thing is new to him.
ReplyDeleteB2B hits from WMP and Slugo?? This pitcher must suck, eh?
ReplyDeleteCurt for PAW:
ReplyDelete5-2-0-0-8, 66 pit/44 strikes
retired first 14 batters
wolp.
ReplyDelete66 pitches 8 K's for Schilling in Toledo! Should be an interesting week as Schilling and Francona fight about his re-hab.
ReplyDeleteI hate Guiterrez!
I hate McDonald's commercials.
ReplyDeleteclog those basepaths!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Bring em all home, tek.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else find it weird that I was accidentally sent a fax today which was addressed to a company called "Varitech Inc"? It was a 2000$ + bill for "financial services"
'Atta Boy J-V!
Mild Remy MUMS:
ReplyDeleteHale holds Manny at third on Lowell's hit and Remy is mildly surprised that Manny saw him and stopped.
(Because Manny is the only player in history to have ever run through a 3B coach's stop sign.)
need the 2 out hit to blow this game open.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to the old rule about swinging after an out?
lee walked 2 to start the inning and after two singles, coco and wmp both hack at -- and make an out on -- on the first pitch.
ReplyDeleteArrrrrrrggh... julio was sooo close to giving us breathing space

Word
9 - my D-ped was for the sliding in the outfield grass to take the hit away.
ReplyDeleteIgawa has 40 pitches , not even after 2.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it a Japanese thing?
remy says there are things about this moronic rsn prez thing that he can't talk about.
ReplyDeletei find that hard to believe.
muzzle the dawg!
Memo to Jerry Remy:
ReplyDeleteSHUT UP about the nation. Please. Shut. Up.
I know I said the same thing last night, but come on.
Actually I don't find gameday that slow as the pitches come up about 10 secs after nesn! Unless 10 secs is like intolerable?

Is your nesn dish or cable?
dr. singles!!!
ReplyDeleteBye bye Flee!
ReplyDeleteI guess Flee is fleeing.
Hard to imagine that coming into tonight that Lee had a 2.25 ERA at Jacobs field against the Sox in three starts.
ReplyDeleteThat is an ERA that will climb.
Lowell, has to be on the short list for mvp....at least for this team.
ReplyDeleteI don't use Gameday much. The few times I have, it's been as much as 2 batters behind. Super slow.
ReplyDeleteeverything is cable, phone, internet etc (digital).
ReplyDeleteKC 4-0 on No Dice and the MFY.

Wow that is slow, I don't usually use it either since my laptop doesn't have the necessary flash/support/is older than the hills but does what I need for work, but Butterfly is at a dress fitting so am using her laptop and thought I would follow gameday etc.
WMP has how many hits???
i say don will tell us "it was a x-minute wait for gabbard"
ReplyDelete-- anyone wanna take that bet?
Two!! Yes, you read that right.
ReplyDeleteHIS FIRST WORDS!
ReplyDelete23 minute wait.
HAHAHAH
No one in their right mind would have bet against you.
ReplyDeleteOk, this crap needs to stop right now!
ReplyDeletefuck the heck?!?!?
ReplyDeleteEnter Sexy Lips.
ReplyDeleteand all the runs score after two freaking outs. by far gabbards worst outing. Come on Sexy lips.
ReplyDeleteJust when I thought I could go to bed early.
ReplyDeleteRed Sox motto should be "It's never easy"
it's a 4-run lead for fuck's sake. calm down.
ReplyDeleteok, our feed from EI just disappeared... now it's back. i wonder what pearls we missed from tina.
ReplyDeletenot really.
calm down
ReplyDeleteand sweet dreams!
"it's a 4-run lead for fuck's sake. calm down."
ReplyDeletewhat he said
Lips with a strong 6th: K, 6-3, K.
ReplyDeleteActually I thought he was calmed down!
ReplyDeleteWMP!
ReplyDeleteWMP!!! Super genius all the way.
ReplyDeleteWMP clearly heard about the Brady Clark signing.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I swear other teams don't want their ace throwing against the Yankees. Example - Sox have faced Halladay 4 times this year but Yankees 1.
ReplyDeleteSantana- Sox 2, Yankees 1
Looking ahead, it looks like Yankees will miss Sabathia when they visit the Indians.
WMP has how many hits?
WMP 3-4 4rbi's .Trade him now , right now.....
ReplyDelete- Sox have faced Halladay 4 times this year but Yankees 1.
ReplyDeleteSantana- Sox 2, Yankees 1
And NY still sucks!
How many games has each team played against the Jays when Halliday was not on the DL?
aaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggh
ReplyDeletelips not very sexy tonight
ReplyDeleteokie and bot- what more do you want?
ReplyDelete"WMP has how many hits?"
ReplyDeleteDo not adjust your sets!
lips doesn't throw the ball to first -- he intentionally spikes it so it gets to yook on a hop. jeez.
ReplyDeleteWMP needs a triple for the cycle!
ReplyDeleteyankees 8 - Sox 12
ReplyDeletebeing!
ReplyDeleteMBM baby!!!
ReplyDeleteI heart MANNY!!!
ReplyDeletewhat a crazy ass game
ReplyDeleteManny wants to work for NESN?! That would rock.
ReplyDeleteafter the last two games, i'm glad the deadball era is over for the sox bats.
ReplyDeletekc 5, mfy 0 -- after 6
"kc 5, mfy 0 -- after 6"
ReplyDeletebe nice to pick up a game tonight
How many hits...??
ReplyDeleteWMP has seen 6 pitches in 5 PA -- and he swung at them all.
ReplyDelete3rd: 1st pitch single
4th: 1st pitch F9
5th: foul, double
7th: 1st pitch HR
9th: 1st pitch double
at the 4th inning break, I switched to IFC. Found "Mississippi Burning" which I've never seen. Drew me away from the game.
ReplyDeleteHad to pull out my laptop for gameday and relieve some of the tension of history and the present.
good game it looks like!
WMP: Seems like every time folks get down on a player he pulls out an amazing game.

Fan? I sit in my basement for 3 hours on gameday becuase nesn is not available .......and you switch to IFC
Yeah. I'm a big poser.
ReplyDeleteI miss far too many games...finally get a chance to sit down and watch one and...
there ya go.

ReplyDeleteYeah. I'm a big poser.
Thats cool, just havin a little fun
not to worry. I'm not fanatical fan (which I don't see as derogatory), i.e. I don't say "we" referring to the sox...but I'm somewhere above average.
ReplyDeleteI catch a game or two a week on TV, one or two via gameday and otherwise I'm out at meetings or working.
I'm all for good-natured fanaticism. and a kick-ass team.
rock on.

There's your problem right there....
Yes the bats are alive and Freddy gets the W
ReplyDeleteGotta admire Nick's honesty. Watching baseball every day is a way of life for some of us, but it doesn't work for everyone.
ReplyDeleteI had plenty of seasons in the past where I watched 1 or 2 games a week. I might even do that again one day.
No, seriously. I might.
Mississippi Burning is a good movie. All hail the FBI, bringing justice to the darkies. (What, it didn't happen like that?) But it's a good movie anyway.
I'm all for good-natured fanaticism
ReplyDeleteThere's your next tagline, A.
The Joy Of Sox
good-natured fanaticism
