Brian Bannister (3.71, 127 ERA+) / Kason Gabbard (4.87, 92 ERA+)

Gabbard held the Tigers to three hits and two runs in 6.1 in his last outing. ... In his last start, RHP Bannister allowed four first-inning runs to Seattle, then shut out the Mariners for six innings.

Since May 12, the Royals are 28-26 (.519). The Red Sox have been only 2 games better over the same period -- 31-25 (.554).

    RE: Rookie starts - am working on starts since 2002 for pitchers making their first start vs Sox. Am about 1/3 of the way through assimilating the data and am surprised by the results so far.

    60 starts the opposing starters are 18 and 25 averaging 5.24 innings per start.

    Was at the game- one of the best I've seen. The tizzy home run was a great moment, as was Kason's wrapup- okey was warming up in the 8th but we were hoping they'd let him enter the 9th with only 93 pitches...
    sure was special

    Hahaha, actually, It was attempted at a completely inconsequential point of the game, but it never got past one column. I laughingly pointed this out but I don't remember which inning.

    It was such a great game.

    probably the best thing about the night was kason's changeup. In the dirt, 80 mph (6-7 off the fb...), and making them look like FOOLS.

    TOTALLY INCORRECT. Several wave attempts. Anyone with a seat that faced the bleachers saw them. At least ten. It was a very rare night where the wave did not round the first corner (section 3-5) and at least start going down the first base side. But there were plenty of noticeable attempts.
