Tweak

I slightly enlarged the font on posts, but I'm not sure I like it. Any thoughts?

I'm also accepting suggestions for future subtitles above.

  1. That's pretty big - I prefer to see more content per page. But of course it can be manually adjusted either way.

  2. Not bad. I like it either way but if I find it too small theres always the trusty CTRL + scroll wheel

  3. Looks pretty good to me. But what I think this site REALLY needs is a nice little forum for keeping game, injury, trade, mlbtv, OT and general discussion neat and organized.

  4. Does it look like the lines in various paragraphs are spaced differently? Some are single spaced (Why Dye?) and some are maybe single-and-a-half (Teixeira).

A discussion forum? Post tags? What?

  5. I didn't like it - too much white space with the thin/fine font you use. It would work better with a bolder font, IMO.

    Yes.

  7. neat and organized

A man after my own heart, I see. Allan's not big on the neat and organized thing.

I think the discussions are fine as is. You set the topic, and off we go. Keeps it simple.

So this bigger font is better? But it should be bolder?

  9. I've often wondered if I should do many little posts (a la Baseball Musings) rather than the bigger catch-alls.

  11. Yeah a discussion forum. Like phpbb (http://www.phpbb.com/community/) or SMF (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php). If you want one I can set it up and customize it for ya.

  12. Hey Redsock, I think the 1.5 space vs. 1.0 space is because the blogger editor did something funky. In "Clip And Save" the first paragraph is in a [p] tag, but that last two (after the block quote) aren't. They are separated by [br] tags. So in the style sheet, [p] have a line-height set to 1.6em, but the default for the document is probably 1.0em.

Blah blah blah, it's not the font, but changing the size may have made it more noticeable.

ron dot miles at 1000paces dot com if you want any help with it.

  15. If you can fix the line spacing issue, then I like the larger font.

PS I can help you with CSS stuff too. Struggling with my own blog taught me a lot.

  17. The best advice for this is to download Firefox (if you don't already use it). And add the plugin called "Firebug." You can get it here

Then you can tweek to year heart's content, trying all sorts of different things until you get it how you want. Once it's perfect, copy the CSS into your actual style sheet and upload.

  18. I like the top banner the way it is, with no box, in the same way the Mets' unis look so much classier without the pinstripes. But I think you've had it that way for a while now--like, since the "Tangled Up in Red" addition.

    Just sayin'.

About the type--I feel like I wanna kind of simplify the whole situation by saying a flat, semi wise-assed "fine," like when Larry David tried the wine at the restaurant. Like any blog you read daily, a minor change is a little shocking for a few days, but you ultimately get used to it. As long as you keep giving us the content you always do that we love so much, we're not going to start any mutinies.

  19. I'm tempted to suggest you put something like "Wicked awesome" into your sub-title because that's such a Bahstahn thing to say, but I can't come up with anything that sounds right.

  20. Update: I actually found myself manually reducing the size to what it was before.....

As for subtitles, I did like the "tangled up in red" - but the brain isn't working right now.
