The 2007 Canadian Blog Awards get underway today. Much like the 2008 Red Sox, JoS is defending its title.
The CBAs have two rounds of voting. And the rules have changed this year.
Instead of voting once per day, you can vote only once per round. So click here and vote for Joy of Sox as Best Sports Blog. The top (five?) vote-getters will advance to the Final Round.
Mid-January is probably the worst time for traffic to a baseball blog, so I really need your support. Go vote now, then tell your friends and family. Thanks.
(Also, please vote for we move to canada, written by my partner L-girl, in the following categories: Best Blog, Best Political Blog and Best Progressive Blog.)
I even tried to vote twice.
ReplyDeleteGod, Paris Hilton irks me.
Leave it to the Canadians not to alphabetize......:)
ReplyDelete9casey: It appears as though every time you go to a category list, the blogs are presented in a different order. Which is good, because otherwise wmtc would be stuck way down at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteOkay, trying to vote again from a different browser on the same computer does NOT work. So, make sure you vote from your computer, your partner/roommate's computer, and your work computer. And all the computers where you work.
ReplyDeleteYou won't be able to vote more than once from the same IP address. Allan and I are at two separate computers but can only vote once.
ReplyDeleteThe best you can do to scam the system is vote from home and from work, if you have two separate locations for those.
And geez Allan, change the photo!
ReplyDeleteI wanted the shirt and Paris > Diddy. I'll find something else for Round 2!
ReplyDeleteJere: Our nemesis The Battle of Alberta is there! Kill!
" And geez Allan, change the photo!"
ReplyDeleteNo! The more involvement of Paris Hilton, the more visitors to the site. Throw an "xxx" up there, too, in fact.
"Jere: Our nemesis The Battle of Alberta is there! Kill!"
Yeah, I noticed some of the old standbys....
And I did just check, and I could and did vote from my girlfriend's computer. We're on different something-something's, I guess.
I am not sure every computer in the same house has the same IP address. I will try and vote again on the desktop downstairs and then at work tomorrow. Maybe I should just walk around the school and vote on all my students' and colleagues' computers...
ReplyDeleteWell went to vote for WMTC for best progressive but I just couldn't pass up the Red Menance, j/k.
ReplyDeleteOk. I voted.
ReplyDeleteI got three other computers I can vote from, so I will work my way through those too.
Good Luck !!

So if I reboot my home router, and get a new dhcp address, I should be able to vote once with each address!!
I was able to vote both from home and work.
ReplyDeleteBeats the crap out of trying to have to remember to vote every day, I think.

ReplyDeleteCareful, s1c! Red is liberal up here - blue is conservative. :)

ReplyDeleteNow THAT is a serious fan.

I agree. This is a better system, I think.
How did you guys get your sites nominated , or is it by suprise that you were nominated?
ReplyDeleteHow did you guys get your sites nominated , or is it by suprise that you were nominated?
ReplyDeleteFor the 2006 awards, someone nominated me. I don't think I ever found out who it was (if I did, I can't remember now). But somehow I found out (I think I got an email from someone else). So that was a total surprise.
This time around, L nominated me and I nominated her (3 times).
...
That's all it takes -- anyone suggesting you in a category.

RS, you have seen my posts..:)
I visit two blogs a year, yours and hers.
and jere's
ReplyDeleteI'm in.
ReplyDeleteVoted 4 times - 3 for Laura
Just curious - are game thread blogs kind of unique to baseball?
I've tried to find a similar community for my other passion - UNC basketball - and there isn't anything out there even close.
At least not that I've found.
Of course, that's a BIG world out there!
Off to bed now, but I'll check back tomorrow

ReplyDeleteDidn't work for me:(

Wow, I'm honoured to be on such a short list.
Voted 4 times - 3 for Laura
Thank you!
I will also note that my blog has been nominated for the Koufax Awards (best lefty blogs - isn't that a great name?) by some unknown person, and last year was nominated for the Canadian Blog Awards by an unknown reader, not Allan.
Toot toot. That's me on my own horn.

Non-baseball SBNation blogs like patspulpit.com have game threads. Plenty of crappy football fansites have game threads too. See, e.g., http://www.bolttalk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=11423 SoSH of course has non-baseball game threads too, though that's not really a suitable example.
I was able to vote at home and at work. Good luck to both of you!
ReplyDelete9casey: Thanks for putting me in your top, er, only 3!
ReplyDeletesosock: You should start a blog dedicated to your B-ball team, and try to get a community going w/game threads or whatever else you want. Ground up. Grass roots.
Voted!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've gotten the all-important Surviving Grady endorsement.
