  1. The game's on ESPN. Early start on the West Coast so they can show the ESPYs later.

Here's what I posted on the "other blog" after the 7th inning of yesterday's game:

"What a horseshit game. Francona leaves Beckett in in the 7th when it's obvious the Angels are hitting him. Four runs later (would have been more except for a remarkable catch by Crisp on a fifth hard-hit ball in the inning), we are losing. Then he doesn't pinch-hit for Lowrie with the bases loaded in the 8th and Lowrie has the worst at-bat I've seen in a long time, striking out like a 10th grader against a pro pitcher.

I really don't know why I waste my time watching regular season games. They obviously really don't care about them.

Meanwhile the Yankees and Rays keep winning. At this rate it'll be a scramble at the end to get the wild card.

I'm going to swear off wasting my time on this crap."

  3. Today's game will really make you happy then. I have to buy lunch tomorrow now because of this crappy performance.

  4. WE'RE DOOOOOOOOO-
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED!!!!!!

OMG, a baseball team lost 3 games in a row. WTF? That NEVER happens!!!!!!

Meanwhile the Yankees and Rays keep winning.

Are those the same Rays that had a 7-game losing streak a mere three days ago? Those winning Rays?

  5. Welcome home, A&L. Glad to see you're back and in snippy form, Allan! Hope the wedding was fun.

  6. If only we had known it was the ESPN game, we could have listened to the whole game in the car. The 6:00 start time fooled us - but we did tune in by the 4th.

    Fat lotta good it did.

  7. We had a GREAT time! The wedding/reception was at the bride's house -- which was a fuckin' huge mansion right on Long Island Sound. Like on the beach!

Listened to most of the game on the drive back. Got home for the top of the 9th.

ESPN radio guy Dave Campbell is a moron.

  8. Hey Amy! We had a terrific time, although 10 hours of driving each way with only a day in between is a bit much, even for me. (Though we knew that going in.)

This was without a doubt the most incredible wedding we have ever attended - or will ever attend - in our lives. Simply beyond belief.

More importantly, the couple is very, very happy, and it was so wonderful to see many old friends. Now it's good to be home.

And how how about some WINS???

So why do you? The real fans can enjoy the rest of the season just as easily without you.

Meanwhile the Yankees and Rays keep winning.

    Rays lost today, genius.

Water on two sides - 400 people - 3 tent areas (cocktail reception, ceremony and an airconditioned tent for dinner), more flowers and candles then I've ever seen in one place, four-star-restaurant quality food, and on and on... and amazing as this might sound, all incredibly understated, tasteful and gorgeous.

It was truly "how the other half lives". Or I guess that should be "how the 0.05% lives".

Hey, at least they're liberal Democrats. :)

  11. bride's house

    Bride's parents' house, that is.

Bride and groom live in an apartment in Brooklyn.

  12. Wow, that does sound amazing! Where in Westchester on the the Sound? Larchmont/Mamaroneck? Rye?

Now if I had a backyard with a water view, maybe my daughter would have gotten married in our yard. If only...

  13. I figured Allan meant the bride's parents. :) Where in Brooklyn? My daughter and SIL are moving to Park Slope on Thursday. It seems Brooklyn is where all the young people are going these days.

  14. :The Yankees ... have too many holes to scare any rational Red Sox fan. ..."

    You still rational?

2 games in the loss, the train is coming.....

  15. You guessed it - Larchmont.

Out of town guests stayed at the Doral Arrowood in Ryebrook, and there were shuttle buses back and forth.

There was also a bus to Brooklyn for a large Brooklyn contingent.

This morning there was a large brunch at the same home, but we had to get on the road, so didn't go.

I am not much of a raver about these kinds of things. It's difficult to impress me. So factor that in.

  16. Four hundred people is huge. We had 260 to Rebecca's wedding, and I really would have kept it smaller if I could have, but these things take on a life of their own.

    Was it formal? Tuxedos, etc?

  17. You still rational?

The Yankees will not make the playoffs. Period. End of sentence.

  18. Morgan and Miller mentioned that was the 6th time we have been swept this year.....Don't worry people Papi will be here soon.....I have to beleive that will be the difference in this season how he performs and changes the game by just being there....Just think we will have guy hittin over .300 batting 7th, unless they , well we'll see...

The wedding sounded cool , for some reason something I am always interested in, band or DJ?

  20. I know this slide is bad but not horrible. It is only horrible for me specifically because I live in Angels land. If they lost every single game except the Angels games I would be happy.

  21. Whew! So glad you guys are home. The Red Sox can start winning again! The three game threads I host, they LOSE.

  22. GLAD TO HAVE YOU GUYS BACK!

  23. Fuckin acute angles. Oh well, time to tear a strip off of (insert "next west coast team here") and (if: "next west coast team" = "seattle", eat some of those delicious salmon things i can't stop thinking about...if: "next west coast team" = "oakland", travel across the bridge to get some nice new birkenstocks)

  26. Welcome back, guys.
This game did indeed feel worse than the 1st 2.
The blowout, well that's just going to happen every so often over the course of a year and you move on.
Saturday seemed like we're getting back in the groove and ready to rock now, so I really expected to take this one. Of course, I go into every game expecting to win it, so there's that.
I did question sending Wake back out in the 8th, although he had breezed through the 7th, and I'm not in the dugout hearing what Tito hears and seeing the body language.
And what is up with Manny? He's looked very average for the last few weeks. Hopefully that will improve when Papi gets back and it's not as easy to pitch around him

  27. 9Casey, soft jazz quartet for reception and ceremony, full-on band and dancers for reception. Kind of the upscale version of the cheesy wedding band.

And that is IT for the wedding talk!

  29. Oops, PS on the wedding. We really don't know how many people there were. We are guessing 400. Maybe there were more. We only know it was huge.

    FULL band:
    drummer
    bass
    2 keyboards
    guitarist
    5-piece horn section
    4 female singers
    4-5 male singers

    maybe a 20-piece band?!?!?
