So says Buster Olney.
I don't think the Red Sox have a serious interest in signing CC Sabathia, especially with the Yankees' offer of 6/140 already on the table. However, the New York Times has reported that CC, if given the choice, would prefer not to pitch in New York.
Also: Greg Maddux will announce his retirement on Monday.
What do they mean, 'if given a choice'? That's a stupid thing to say. He's a free agent. If he doesn't want to pitch in New York, he doesn't have to.
ReplyDeletePlease, let CC sign with the Yankees. Carl Pavano, anyone?
ReplyDeleteMaybe if NY is the only offer -- or the highest offer by a lot -- then he would rethink his (however big or small) reluctance to pitch in New York.
ReplyDelete"If given a choice" is my phrase (I only read Olney refer to the Times). So if you're calling me stupid, well then, fuck hugh. ... How about "all things being equal"?
Oh, well that changes everything! I assumed the phrase came from the Times, and I enjoy overly scrutinizing things that are said in news articles from time to time.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a stupid phrase when you say that because everyone here knows when an athlete "doesn't have a choice." The Times just made it sound like Star Wars, trying to lure him to the Dark Side of the Force. Sure you might technically have a choice, but they are New York Yankees. This...is...your...destiny.
So, no worries.
This whole post was stupid. CC will never play in Boston.
ReplyDeleteSheesh. It's just a bit o' news.
ReplyDeleteI vote no on this news.
ReplyDeleteAndy...commentus ignorantus infection?
