Sunday Night Baseball Just Got Worse

Neil Best, Newsday:
ESPN will announce Wednesday that Steve Phillips will join Jon Miller and Joe Morgan in the "Sunday Night Baseball" booth for 2009, altering for the network's announcing lineup for its showcase event for the first time in 20 seasons of televising MLB.
I'll be surprised if I take the mute off ESPN at all this season.

  3. Oh crap. I'd listen to Miller & Morgan all day over five minutes of Steve Phillips.

Good thing I work Sunday nights and only listen on the radio!

  4. Is there any way we can get Hawk Harrelson to join the broadcast, so we can get them all in one room together and shut the door?

  5. If only there wasn't such a delay between the radio call and the TV - tried that once and it was awful.

Oh, and Truck Day is 06 February. Mark your calendars...

If you're watching on a Tivo you can just pause it for a second or two and get it sync'd perfectly.

Thats what I did through most of the play-offs last year.

I've done many a game that way - whole playoff series, in fact. It's annoying but it's still better, depending on who's blathering.

  11. I had a knockdown, drag-out argument with a coworker last week who thought Joe Morgan was the greatest baseball announcer who's ever lived.

  12. Pepe: Wow. Simply wow.

Even if you thought Morgan provided solid analysis -- which, actually, he sometimes does -- he is utterly unable to speak coherently.

Next, you'll tell me this guy thinks Chris Berman has a smoother annoucing voice than Vin Scully.

  13. You want even weirder. This same person loves Bill Walton as an announcer.
I was half-convinced he was just trying to make me mad.
