Odds And Ends

Here is some random stuff that I had saved in drafts:

On July 19, Matt Kemp scored all four Dodger runs in a 4-3 win over the Astros. The last time a player scored all of his team's runs (at least four) was Eric Davis on August 24, 1990. Has anyone scored all five of his team's runs? Here is a list of the 120 players who have scored five runs in a game since 1954; however, the lowest team runs among them is eight.
Example
Also on July 19, Ian Kinsler of the Rangers homered to begin the bottom of the first and he later won the game with a walk-off dong in the 12th inning. According to HR Expert David Vincent, the other players to hit leadoff and game-ending homeruns are:
Billy Hamilton, May 17, 1893 (2 of 5 HR that year)
Vic Power, May 7, 1957
Darin Erstad, June 25, 2000
Reed Johnson, June 15, 2003 (28th career game)
Of course, these guys were not the actual first batter of the game, since to hit a walkoff, they would have to be at home.
Example
On July 25, the Cubs hit for the cycle in the first five batters of the game:
Reed Johnson: double
Ryan Theriot: sacrifice
Derrek Lee: triple
Aramis Ramirez: home run
Kosuke Fukudome: single
The cycle was completed in the first four official at-bats. ... Two days later, on July 27, the Yankees began the second inning against the Rays with: Matsui single, Posada double, and Cano triple. Swisher grounded out (though he did hit two solo home runs later in the game).
Example
Way back on April 29, Milwaukee's Yovani Gallardo started against the Pirates, threw eight shutout innings, hit a home run, and won the game 1-0. It was the fourth time since 1965 that a pitcher has won a 1-0 game with his own home run. All four games were in the National League.
Juan Pizarro: 9-6-0-2-8, CG, 36 BF
Cubs vs Mets, September 16, 1971
HR: 8th inning, 1 out, off Tom Seaver

Bob Welch: 9-6-0-5-4, CG, 36 BF
Dodgers vs Reds, June 17, 1983
HR: 6th inning, 0 outs, off Mario Soto

Odalis Perez: 8-5-0-0-4, 108 pitches
Dodgers vs Diamondbacks, August 28, 2002
HR: 5th inning, 2 outs, 1st pitch off Rick Helling

Yovani Gallardo: 8-2-0-1-11, 116 pitches
Brewers vs Pirates, April 29, 2009
HR: 7th inning, 1 out, 0-2 pitch off Ian Snell
Example
I have fallen down re 2009 linescores, but here's a neat one from the 1980 World Series (Game 3):
Phillies - 010 010 010 0 - 3 14 0
Royals - 100 100 100 1 - 4 11 0

  1. The moral of your second paragraph is Don't bean Ian Kinsler.
