Loading The Truck

PICS!

Start here -- and ignore the idiots who scoff at the idea of celebrating Truck Day.
Example
Globe:
The truck arrived at Fenway Park this morning just after 6:30 a.m. and the packing began at around 7:00 a.m. with a crew of seven workers. ...

The truck will depart from Fenway around noon.
Driver Al Hartz will be making his 12th Fenway-to-Fort-Myers run.

  1. Thanks for the link!

In my mind I'm already encouraging the Red Sox to tack on runs to the lead they don't have yet in the first game of the regular season that's almost two months away!

  2. Wonderful. After the recent blizzard, this is fucking fantastic.

  3. Truck Day should be a Massachusetts holiday like Bunker Hill Day and Evacuation Day.

  4. That would be especially great for any NYY fans living in Boston.

  5. Awesome news! What a week - a new little baby Red Sock in our family, and now Truck Day. Hooray!

  6. Congratulations, Scottish James! All the best.

  7. Thanks L-girl! His baby cranky face is a lot like his dad's sox-just-lost-face.

  8. Can you smell that? That is Spring time in Florida! With of this sports mediocrity surrounding me, I've been dying for my Sox to take the field. Plus, I agree with the idea that this should be a regional holiday. 6 days!!!!

  9. One of my life's wishes is to spend a full three weeks or so in Ft. Myers for Spring Training... maybe when I'm an old man

I'm just looking forward to listening to games on the radio in the background while I do some reading and homework! It's a great spring tradition. (Along with another great tradition, my school's baseball team getting flogged by the Red Sox in an exhibition game in the first week of March...go Eagles!)

  10. Three weeks in Ft Myers? Definitely wait til you're an old man!

But spring training is great to do once or twice - City of Palms Park is so beautiful.

In case my earlier comment was ambiguous, I am in full favour of Truck Day as a MA holiday, especially because of NYY fans living in Boston.

  12. We are going to our first spring training game this spring break! We are staying in Sanibel and going to go to Ft Myers to see the Sox play the Orioles while we are down there (just a week, not three, but hey, I am OLD and proud of it!).

That's great news, James! Enjoy every second, even the sleepless ones.

  13. Amy, that's great! You'll have a blast.

A week is long enough, IMO. We were there for 5 days (2 separate times) and that was plenty. I mean, I could see a game in beautiful, sunny, small park every day from now til forever, but in between games... zzzzz... boooring. We had a great time, though.

    Enjoy!

  14. Well, IIRC, you are not a beach person, Laura. Harvey and I are never bored if we can bike, read, sit on a beach, swim, etc! I am just looking forward to warmth, sun, sand, water, and being outside. I am SO sick of winter. Uch.

  15. Ah, very true. We didn't go anywhere near a beach. Or a golf course.

We weren't bored, because we were driving around to various parks to see games - I think we saw 5 games in 4 days.

  16. I am with you on the golf part! Never played, never want to. We will only see one game. I could not believe how expensive a spring training game was or how hard it was to get a decent ticket. We are in the standing area out in right field.

  17. I hope everyone's had a good offseason - I'm ready for some spring! Big happenings in my family over the winter: My sister got hired to be one of the two new "Miss Sprint Cups" for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, so uh, I'm a NASCAR fan again! HAHA

You can read about her here! She's already been on TV and she'll be in victory lane for 12 of the 36 races this year and travels to 26 of the 36 races. Crazy stuff.

Other than that, I've been watching hockey every chance I can get but still, I did a little happy dance for Truck Day.

    I can't wait for G1!

  18. I hope everyone's had a good offseason

It's still the off season. I got another 6 weeks of movies to look forward to before G1, formerly known as Opening Day.

  19. True! And truth be told, I'm probably not going to watch that much of Spring Training, but we'll see!

  20. Ish, I have no idea what the Sprint thing means nor do I have any clue about NASCAR, but congrats to your sister!

  21. From Ish Sis' article:

"Patti and Kyle Petty are among a small group of drivers who married a Miss Winston."

    Where's Miss Proofreader over there?

  22. LMAO Jere! That's hilarious - Good find!

So far my sister's been on Fox News (lol), ESPN, FOX, and SPEED Channel... AT LEAST!

She's back in Charlotte now and off for over a week. She gets so many days off. I'm jealous.

Look out this June when she comes up to New Hampshire - she'll probably meet some of the Red Sox.
