Wild game in Colorado (11-11 now).
ReplyDeleteLincecum gives up three hits in 8.1, including a solo HR to Howard. Then Wilson lets them tie it up. SF fans growl.
BUT San Francisco manages to tie it up 5-5 in the bottom of the 10th.
scutaro - clean single to start the nite
ReplyDelete2010 Sox: The Curse of DH DP
ReplyDelete.... not the real mccoy!
ReplyDeleteIf he was caught stealing by us, then I guess not.
ReplyDeleteNice.
ReplyDeleteWatching Montreal-Washington game 7, as is apparently everyone who would consider attending this game in SkyRogersDomeCentre.
ReplyDeleteWill be hanging around here to read the scuttlebutt so I know when to flip over.
I wonder if Tek changed from the high socks to change his luck at the bat.
ReplyDeleteat bat, at the plate
ReplyDeletejays tv pat tabler says tito has been doing different stuff to get the offense going this month - like bunching the good hitters together, starting putting pedroia, martinez and yook together in the order
ReplyDelete...
because before tito had pedroia hit 2nd, yook was #6 and martinez was maybe 8 or 9 ...
Not sure that was an error on your part, Amy. Isn't it "Casey at the Bat"?
ReplyDeleteThe long socks were not real attractive. Then again, "attractive" and Varitek don't really sit side by side in my book.
I love what NESN is doing, showing the updated pitch count after each pitch.,
ReplyDeleteWhy isnt the Dr. DH'ing?
ReplyDeleteThe long socks were not real attractive. Then again, "attractive" and Varitek don't really sit side by side in my book.
ReplyDeleteDon't tell just about every woman over 30 at Fenway Park on an average night :O
LOL, Zen. Hey, if that's why he changed, it seems to be working. It seems unlikely appearances had anything to do with it.
ReplyDeleteI sort of like the high socks look on some players, but not on others. I liked it on Tek. He looks funny to me with his pants covering his whole leg.
tabler talking about jacoby else-berry.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about this today. Alan Embree replaces Atchinson in the pen.... feels like 2004 - Wakefield, Varitek, Ortiz, Embree. Too bad they're all 6 years older as am I...
ReplyDeleteI find Tek mildly physically attractive---he's not really my type. I just like him because I like catchers generally, he was at one time decent both at the plate and behind the plate, and he has a calm demeanor most of the time. I don't like the whackjobs who have fits every time something doesn't go their way. Though I did love Tek pushing his glove into ARod's ugly face.
ReplyDeleteyeah right tabler, wells was thinking 3. hoooo kay
ReplyDeleteBy the way, this would have been more appropriate last week, but
ReplyDeleteDoooomed
It's a bit of a mystery to me exactly what women find attractive in us men. A few cases are pretty obvious, but opinions differ so much on the rest.
ReplyDeleteFor example, a friend of mine has polar opposite opinions from you on the desirability of Tek and A-Rod.
TAKE YOUR SEAT!
ReplyDeleteZen, we are no more mysterious than men are. :)
ReplyDeleteNYY: 23
ReplyDeleteBAL: 0
Amy, Hrrrrm.
ReplyDeletepc
ReplyDeletelester: 15-22 = 37
cecil: 15-22 = 37
wow - real gold glover out there in RF!!!!
ReplyDeleteWha' happened? Seems like Bautista usually plays 3B.
ReplyDeletePosada leaves the game after being hit in the knee. Doesn't seem serious.
ReplyDeleteI dind't think Hall could do that anymore!

ReplyDeleteThis comment by Pokey Reese on the discussion of Ortiz sent a chill up my spine:
ReplyDelete"Do people realize that despite leading the league in HRs after May [in 2009] Ortiz was still worth less than one win over a replacement player?"
I've always liked the long socks on Tek. Haven't noticed him in the long pants. guess I have't been paying attention.
ReplyDeleteLester's looking good.... so far.
ReplyDeleteOn the scoreboard anyways. 52 pitches in 3+
ReplyDeleteStill impressed by HH's outing last night.
ReplyDeletejays guys amazed that teams passed on lester -- don't they know that while he was good int he minors, he was dice before dice -- took forever to pitch, walked guys, loaded bases, got out of jams. HE was houdini! he became dynamite only in the last couple of years.
ReplyDelete.... so obvious these guys do no research and have not done any for years!
dinnertime...
ReplyDeleteThese last two games made the first game in this series feel like a weird, alcohol-induced dream.
ReplyDeletei'm told cecil just fisted beltre.

I'll leave that alone.....
it must have been something else in HD!

Why?
I'm wondering what sort of pressure is being/can be put on MLB and the teams that participate in the Cactus league to pull out of Arizona. There's a large enough number of players who are latino that they could make the argument that their players aren't safe there, regardless of their legal status.
ReplyDeleteThat inning lasted like 6 minutes
ReplyDeletehere's a facebook group called No Spring Training in Arizona!
ReplyDeletetype anecdote: I originally spelled group "groom".
McDouble!
ReplyDeleteLove the fake bunt for a hit.

I understand the profiling issue......but what are some of the things they could do find illegal immigrants?
And now...the runs!
ReplyDelete(pls)
Extra Bases say Geddy Lee is behind the plate. Er, in the seats behind home plate.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I understand your question 9casey. could you rephrase it?
ReplyDeleteOne of the components of the law allows them to arrest legal residents (native-born or otherwise) who are unable to provide documentation at the time of their status.
Geddy Lee behind the plate! What a, ah, rush.
ReplyDeleteSALESMEN!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEven though I have NESN on, I'm annoyed GDGD isn't working.

I understand the law , and it does seem a bit over the top....I am just wondering what else can officials do to find illegal immigrants, and not be so intrusive. Is there anything, or do we wait till they committ a crime or are ratted out by somebody?
I'll be seein' them this summer. From a cheap seat.
ReplyDeleteHey RS. I see one slipped on by ya...
ReplyDeleteyooooooooooooook
ReplyDeleteIf it truly wanted to do so, the US could slow illegal immigrants from crossing any border to 0 (or under 5 anyway) every year.

We can't even keep you out......:)
that is a price you pay living in a "free society" - people are going to do bad things before you can arrest them.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm a citizen!
ReplyDeleteDoes everyone know the dumb Rush fan fact about how Geddy got his name?
ReplyDeleteWe can't even keep you out......:)
ReplyDelete:-) (I think I prefer an emoticon there to typing "lol".)
Also! We are taking our tests for Canadian citizenship on May 27! Got the scheduling notices this week. (I am overly worried about failing, while L passes!)
ReplyDeleteAnnouncer just called the Sox the Redskins lol
ReplyDeleteThis non-Rush fan doesn't know. I figured that was his actual name.
ReplyDeleteHis name was Gary. His Yiddish-speaking grandmother couldn't pronounce the name. When she said his name, it sounded like "Geddy".
ReplyDeleteWhat about his voice? How did it get so high? I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy.
ReplyDeleteredsock said...

I'm sure there must be a way to keep you out still. Maybe the next time you're in Arizona I'll put a Secretly Canadian sticker on your back. "Let me see your ID"
My voice sounds like Geddy Lee, seriously.
ReplyDeleteHis voice is not that high any more. Nutty Rush fans will never let you forget that his vocals have slipped some, although there are of course those who like it better that way.
ReplyDeleteby way of the...
ReplyDeleteGo Leatah!!
ReplyDeleteAnd his speaking voice is pretty normal.
ReplyDelete6IP, a hit and two walks? Thankya, Jeeezus!
Beltre due for an HR.
ReplyDeleteNot a lot of Pavement fans in the house....
ReplyDeletePavement. Interested, but never tried. Like so much music that has been done in the last 20 years.
ReplyDeletegoogle the last sentence in that post about his voice.
ReplyDeleteDarnell!
ReplyDeletethat's a 'wave i like.
ReplyDeleteOh. Right. That did ring a faint bell that someone had a thing asking about his voice like that, but I thought it was a comedy bit.
ReplyDeleteYay. We can't be at the mercy of one little slip o' th' bullpen.
ReplyDeleteIn my college days in the first 1/2 of the 90s I had friends who were mad into Pavement, but I've never gotten into them...or Guided By Voices. They're together in my mental reservoirs.
ReplyDeleteNot that that speaks negatively of either band, fwiw.
ReplyDeletelester been alright tonight, huh?
ReplyDelete1 hit allowed thru 7 -- and only 2 of 21 outs hit out of the infield.
Amazing.
ReplyDelete2 of 21. that's a nice number
ReplyDeletelester at 119 pitches.
ReplyDeleteGeddy Lee wiki
ReplyDeleteI assume Lester is done? Who's coming in?
ReplyDeletebard in
ReplyDeleteBard coming in?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Francona would have left him in with 118 pitches and a no hitter?
ReplyDeleteSheeeeet.
ReplyDeletewhat the hell hitting drug is seabass taking this year?
ReplyDeleteK
ReplyDeleteTwo down.
ReplyDeleteBard's getting good movement on his pitches now
ReplyDeleteCito emptying the bench for some reason.
ReplyDeleteNice! Bard is poetic.
ReplyDeletebard joins the klan.
ReplyDeletehas Remy never heard of "defensive indifference"? granted, I've never really understood it either, but...
ReplyDeleteHe said it was the wrong call. It did seem odd to me also.
ReplyDeleteDrew can't hit for me in MLB 2K10 either.
ReplyDeletegiven that it exists and I haven't read the actual rule, that did seam like a steal to me.
ReplyDeleteRemy's wording/tone was odd to me though. It didn't sound like he was just questioning the call, but the existence of the rule. I mean, I'm sure he knows it, but it just sounded odd to me.
I blame the pants.
ReplyDeleteVaritek, graceful as an elephant ballerina.
ReplyDeleteI thought he just sounded bewildered.
ReplyDeleteTek was more graceful with the high socks.
ReplyDeleteGoing to close my eyes til the bottom of the ninth is over.
ReplyDeleteAmy: Grab some Tums.
ReplyDeletebewildered is a good word for it. It was just how I heard his bewilderment.
ReplyDeleteI'm running late for radioland. later.
David Aaaaaaaaardsma has 7 saves and is leading the league? Why can't we get guys like that!
ReplyDeleteAllan, I need xanax, not Tums.
ReplyDeleteWTF got into Papelbon today? His 4FB is 96-97 and swerving all over the place.
ReplyDeleteThe water is Muddy!!!
ReplyDeleteSWEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Building a little more confidence in Pap these last two outings.
ReplyDeleteDirty Canadian water.
Honest to God fuckin' combined 2 hitter. I love it.
ReplyDeleteDirty shutout water
ReplyDeleteI predicted this sweep in my post on the alt site. Or at least I publicly hoped for it.
ReplyDelete.500 , no lookin back now....
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Tek made a difference to Lester tonight..There really was no reason why Martinez didn't catch that game....
Also last May 20, Ortiz hit his first HR of 2009 off Cecil...I was at that game
ReplyDelete
