Ellsbury Seeks Another Opinion; Papelbon On Bereavement List; Boof Is Back

Later this week, Jacoby Ellsbury will go to the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles for another opinion on his fractured/healing ribs. His agent, Scott Boras, suggested it and the Red Sox agreed.

Jonathan Papelbon was placed on the bereavement/family medical emergency list -- he will be out at least three days -- and Boof Bonser was activated. Bonser last pitched in the majors on September 27, 2008 (he faced four batters and gave up four singles) and missed all of 2009 after having Tommy John surgery.

It was Martinez's first game in Cleveland since being traded to Boston last July. During this series, Martinez is staying with his former host family that he first met in 1999.

B-Ref: 12 runs in the 15th inning (July 3, 1983)!
