Nick Cafardo, Globe:
Jeremy Hermida left the game with a left forearm contusion as a result of his [third inning] collision with Adrian Beltre. ... Hermida appears to be day-to-day but it certainly thins out Boston's outfield unless Mike Cameron returns tomorrow. The Rays lost to the Rangers 9-6 (Texas chased Wade Davis with a 7-run fourth) and Brett Cecil and the Blue Jays beat the Yankees 6-1. New York stays 2.5 GB, while Boston and Toronto move up to 4.5 GB.Clay Buchholz / Chris Tillman
Game Thread here.
Tillman is making his second start of the season. On May 29, he went 5.2-6-2-2-3, 96 against the Blue Jays. The 22-year-old righty had a 5.40 ERA in 12 starts in 2009.
In his last four starts, Buchholz has a 1.32 ERA (27.1 innings).
With New York 2 GB and Boston and Toronto 5.5 GB:
Yankees/Blue Jays, 7 PM
Rays/Rangers, 8 PM
June 4, 1974: Ten-Cent Beer Night in Cleveland.
Ten-Cent Beer Night
ReplyDeleteAh, the good old days of drunken rioting, before the game got ruined by whatever ruined it next.
Geez, what were they thinking???
Ten-cent beer night - my god. That account on wikipedia is fucking outrageous.
ReplyDeleteWhat did they think would happen?!?!
Ahhh the good old days, 1974!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember if I mentioned it here in the past, but I remember my dad telling me about going to the ten-cent beer night in Milwaukee (we lived in Madison at the time). It must've been the one in '76 mentioned in the Wikipedia article. No rioting, but guys urinating everywhere and rivers of piss flowing through the stadium and down the ramps. Lovely. For some reason he'd often think of it as we were walking into stadiums together at games of my youth.
ReplyDeleteI am leaving on my trip tonight so no more game threading until June 22nd.
ReplyDelete310 310 012
ReplyDeleteWhat happened in the 7th 8th and 9th?! the beans had a nice 310 thing going and they blew it. :)
I went to see the Salem Red Sox last night... off to see the real thing at the Orioles tomorrow afternoon - John Lackey on the mound.
ReplyDeleteOn Thursday we went to see Greensboro Grasshoppers rather than Winston-Salem Dash as their beer promotion was better!
I think this is your box score, LL.
ReplyDeleteWas it (semi-adjusting for inflation) "50 cent beer" night?
