Manny Delcarmen has been traded to the Colorado Rockies for right-handed minor league pitcher Chris Balcom-Miller, 21.
Robert Manuel is up from Pawtucket to fill the spot.
SoSHer Scoops Bolling has a good overview of CBM, who was drafted by the Rockies in the 6th round of the June 2009 Amateur Draft and has been assigned to Greenville (A).
Is it perverse of me to have groaned lately when MDC came in, but, still, somehow now be sorry to see him go?
ReplyDeleteI don't think so. He grew up in Boston, and to pitch for the Red Sox -- and get a ring!!! -- must have been a huge thrill. I think I rooted for him a bit extra because of that.
ReplyDeleteChad Finn: "Growing up in Hyde Park and starring at West Roxbury High School, Manny Delcarmen dreamed of pitching for the Red Sox."
ReplyDeleteOver at fangraphs, they are making this out to be a real steal for the Red Sox.
ReplyDeleteAnd pitch he did. Now he gets to pitch elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteSo, long, M.D.C.
ReplyDeleteAll of those nights you blew the games till dawn.

So long.
Delcarmen always seemed Jekyll and Hyde to me. As redsock points out, he had the thrill of winning a championship with his home team, so it wasn't all bad by a long shot.
