began contract negotiations at six years and $150 million -- $25 million per year, the second-highest annual salary in the sport's history!
Daily News columnist Bob Raissman rightly
labelled that suggestion as "delusional". Now comes
word from Jeter's agent, Casey Close, that the 6/150 report was "inaccurate". What Jeter has actually proposed to the Yankees, according to a source, is more like $22-24 million per year for five seasons. Which is
far more reasonable.
