Rangers - 011 007 002 - 11 15 0 Red Sox - 000 000 220 - 4 9 2Lackey and the Red Sox trailed by only two runs when the big-chinned righty began the sixth inning. Then ... disaster.
Lackey (5-8-6-3-1, 103) gave up three singles and a walk, threw a wild pitch, and left the bases loaded for Felix Doubront -- who allowed all three inherited runners to score (one on a bases-loaded walk), and gave up three runs of his own when Josh Hamilton's triple cleared the bases. Michael Bowden was tagged for two dongs in the ninth, by -- guess who -- Mike Napoli and Ian Kinsler!
In the home half of the seventh, Carl Crawford singled and Jarrod Saltalamacchia ground-rule doubled, and Marco Scutaro singled them both home. Adrian Gonzalez walked to start the eighth and Kevin Youkilis doubled. David Ortiz's single scored one run and Darnell McDonald's sac fly scored another.
The Yankees beat the Blue Jays 9-3 and are now 1.5 GA in the AL East. The Red Sox are headed to Canada, and begin a four-game series at Skydome tomorrow afternoon; The Yankees host the Orioles.
