Matsuzaka Article, Decoded

A few days ago, I posted a screen-shot of a less-than-ideal translation of a Japanese news story about Daisuke Matsuzaka's on-going recovery from TJ surgery. It was pretty much the laziest way of sharing the article.

Matt Kory of Over The Monster did some actual work, however, and tried to make sense of it. So ... a bit of logrolling in our time.

  1. That's one interesting deal. I don't think Pineda is as good as everyone thinks. Kuroda though is exactly as good as everyone thinks. Crap.

    (thanks for the link, Allan)

  2. Varitek may be given a camp invite as a non-roster player, so we got that going for us.

  3. Valentine has kept up a busy schedule of late, traveling to Portland, Maine, for a function with the Sea Dogs on Friday night and traveling to Fort Myers, Fla., before that. He saw quite a few players in Fort Myers, including Andrew Miller -- "a big lefthander who throws nice fastballs," the manager said -- and rehabbing starter Daisuke Matsuzaka.

"He had a good look in his eye," Valentine said.

  5. If his eyes are crazy, his pitch will be lazy!

If his eyes are strong, he'll dish up a dong!

If his eyes are smart, he'll have heart!

If his eyes shoot fire, his arm will tire!

If his eyes are tragic, his pitch will be magic!

Should we send these tips on to Bobby V.?

  6. If he's content to nibble, game threaders will quibble.

If his gaze starts to sink, we'll start to drink.
