Rob Bradford tweets that Aaron Cook will be starting in place of Josh Beckett on Saturday.
Beckett, who tied a career-high with 126 pitches last Sunday in Chicago, is experiencing soreness and stiffness. (Bobby Valentine has said that if he had known Beckett would throw 12 pitches to his final batter, he would have pulled him beforehand, at 114.)
From SoSHer mabrowndog's list of the various transactions:
ReplyDeleteTue pre-game: Tazawa optioned, Iglesias called up
Tue post-game: Anderson optioned
Wed pre-game: Mortensen called up
Wed pre-game: Middlebrooks called up, Iglesias optioned (or Yook DL?)
Sat pre-game: Mortensen optioned, Cook's contract purchased; Repko DFA or Crawford 60-day DL to clear a spot on the 40-man
Thanks for the summary. I was reading about 6 articles trying to piece it all together in my head. Okay, so Middlebrooks is up, Punto is the extra infielder... as of now we don't know if it's Iglesias down or Yook DL?
ReplyDeleteCrappy news about beckett, ugh
Yook to DL, retro to Sunday
ReplyDeleteSo Iggy is still with the team, I guess.
ReplyDeleteRather have Iglesias go down and Lars skip the 10-day waiting period because of Youkilis's DL trip.
ReplyDeleteI find this Cook for Beckett thing alarming. All along I've been thinking it'd be Clay.
ReplyDeleteThey are very fragile group I dont know if that is age or something else, but we have to think about getting younger . It seems as though a lot of the players we rely on cannot stay in the lineup... Maybe it is just too cold .... Suck it up fellas...
