G107: Twins 6, Red Sox 5 (10)

Twins - 010 040 000 1 - 6 13 3
Red Sox - 014 000 000 0 - 5 14 0
The Red Sox blew a 5-1 lead, squandered a golden chance to score in the eighth inning, and ended up losing their third consecutive game. The four games they made up in the standings in four days earlier this week has just about been erased. Boston is 10 GB in the East.

Crawford doubled and scored in the second, and blasted a three-run home run in the third. Dustin Pedroia started the third with a single, and Cody Ross followed with a hit of his own. Adrian Gonzalez singled home FY, and then (after two outs were made) Crawford went deep.

The first six Minnesota batters reached base in the fifth against Felix Doubront (5-8-5-4-2, 97). With the bases loaded and one out, Doubront walked in a run, allowed a two-run single to Justin Morneau (who reached base five times with two singles, two doubles, and a HBP) and a game-tying sac fly.

With one out in the home eighth, Crawford and Kelly Shoppach both singled, and Mike Aviles walked. With the bases loaded, Jacoby Ellsbury struck out against Tyler Robertson, chasing a 2-2 pitch out of the strike zone. Jeff Gray came in and retired Pedroia on a fly ball to right field.

In the tenth, Darin Mastroianni doubled off the Wall. Brian Dozier tried to bunt him to third, but Will Middlebrooks made a diving catch of the pop-up bunt in foul territory. Jamey Carroll - the #9 hitter - then collected his fourth hit of the night, a single to right-center than scored the go-ahead run. (Carroll had three singles, a double, and a walk.)

Boston went in order in the bottom of the tenth: Crawford K, Shoppach F8, Aviles F9.
