Boston's lone hit was a bunt single by Scott Posednik to begin the game. He scored an unearned run on Dustin Pedroia's sacrifice fly, giving the Red Sox an early lead which lasted only a few minutes.

Aaron Cook (1-5-6-3-0, 42) allowed a two-run homer to Chris Davis and a grand slam to Ryan Flaherty in the bottom of the first, and was pulled after walking the first two batters in the second.

The Yankees beat the Blue Jays 11-4, so New York stays 1 GA of Baltimore.
