G16: Royals at Red Sox, PPD

OFFICIAL: Tonight's Red Sox game at Fenway Park scheduled for 7:10 pm has been postponed to support efforts of law enforcement officers.

David Ortiz has been activated for tonight's game.
My idea [during the rehab assignment] was to put the ball in play so I could run and see how it felt. I got the chance to taste that. It feels good. I think I'll go back to the big team [Friday] and try to keep [my swing] compact. I'm old enough to know to keep it compact. But my main key was to make sure that my foot was fine.
As expected, Jackie Bradley (.097/.263/.129) was optioned to Pawtucket.

John Lackey (right bicep strain) will make a rehab start for Portland on Monday.

    Local media reports that this game may or may not take place tonight, because of the ongoing manhunt for the surviving suspect in the Marathon bombing.

    Cafardo tweeted that Ortiz said he (Ortiz) was told the game had been cancelled.

    How on earth could they possibly play? No one can get anywhere, no one can leave the house. Even if the lockdown were lifted this afternoon (which sounds unlikely at this point - reports are it may go into the weekend), who could or would go to a baseball game? Seems kind of obvious, even at this distance.

    Game ppd a few minutes ago according to Fox and Globe.

    My brother lives three blocks from the apartment in Cambridge where the accused brothers rented, my son on the same street in Somerville where the murdered MIT policeman lived. All the streets around both of their places are shut down to any traffic.

    People can go outside again, the lockdown order was lifted about an hour ago. That must be a big relief, although also scary.
