Commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Boston Red Sox' unprecedented championship run in the fall of 2004, this guide takes fans behind the scenes and inside the dugout, bullpen, and clubhouse to reveal to baseball fans how it happened, as it happened. The book highlights how, during a span of just 76 hours, the Red Sox won four do-or-die games against their archrivals, the New York Yankees, to qualify for the World Series and complete the greatest comeback in baseball history. Then the Red Sox steamrolled through the World Series, sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals in four games, capturing their first championship since 1918. Don't Let Us Win Tonight is brimming with revealing quotes from Boston's front office personnel, coaches, medical staff, and players, including Kevin Millar talking about his infectious optimism and the team's pregame ritual of drinking whiskey, Dave Roberts revealing how he prepared to steal the most famous base of his career, and Dr. William Morgan describing the radical surgery he performed on Curt Schilling's right ankle. The ultimate keepsake for any Red Sox fan, this is the 2004 team in their own words.Don't Let Us Win Tonight is scheduled for release on April 1, 2014.

My 2004 Book: "Don't Let Us Win Tonight"
Amazon:
The final cover may not look exactly like this. It should say that Kevin Millar wrote the book's Foreword.
ReplyDeleteOff to New York for the week, so nothing new until Friday (at the earliest).
Very excited for you and for all your readers---can't wait to get a copy!
ReplyDeleteAre you in NYC for book matters? Have fun!
Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the story behind the tittle `Don't Let Us Win Tonight'?

ReplyDeleteWhat is the story behind the tittle `Don't Let Us Win Tonight'?
ReplyDeleteNew fan, eh? :)
I was thinking the same thing, Laura, but perhaps it's just someone without the same level of obsession as some of us! :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun in NYC! Glad it's for fun, not just business.
ReplyDeleteNews! Another writer friend of ours tells me that pre-ordering a book on Amazon helps boost its Amazon rating. That means when the book comes out, it will be more visible on the Amazon site.
ReplyDeleteSo if you're going to be ordering Allan's book - and why wouldn't you? - if you can pre-order it, that would be even better.
The publisher is in Chicago and the publicity will be in Boston, so not much business for us in New York. Just family and fun. Yay.
ReplyDeleteAllan, did you meet alot of guys from the 2004 team?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Allan! I'm looking forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteWe split the 25-man roster down the middle and most of the interviews were on the phone. I met Youkilis and Ortiz when the teams were at Skydome. All of the other interviews I did were on the phone.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding! Good luck with it Allan, I expect you to have great success with this.

ReplyDeletePutting in my pre-order now.
Cool! Good Luck brother!
ReplyDeleteWell done!
ReplyDeleteWANT.
ReplyDeletepre-ordered!
ReplyDeletePre-order price is now down to $20.04!
ReplyDeleteCute!
Was $19.83 two days ago, which I thought was odd. I guess if it's gonna be near 20 bucks, might as well go $20.04.
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed reading Allan's fantastic commentary on the blog site for the last few years, so I put my pre-order in.
ReplyDeleteAnd $20.04, how awesome it that!!!
Franco Capizzo, great avatar!
