And you thought ObamaCare got off to a miserable start.Mark Feinsand, Daily News:
From CC Sabathia getting spanked by the light-hitting Astros, to the ball being carelessly thrown away by Brian McCann and Mark Teixeira, to Carlos Beltran committing a fielding error and third baseman Kelly Johnson screening Derek Jeter on a ground ball, the Yankees laid a rotten Opening Day egg Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park. ...

[T]he Astros used CC for BP, teeing off on fastballs that struggled to hit 88 on the gun, clobbering changeups that checked in at 83, all of them belt-high and inviting, most of the baseballs hit with a lot more velocity than they were thrown. ...
[A]n unsettling 6-2 loss to a team that lost 111 games last year (including their last 15 straight) and has dropped 324 games the last three years.
If the Yankees were to stink hilariously all season, that just might make the canonization of St. Jeter bearable.
ReplyDeleteSabathia's velocity has been trending downward consistently for a couple of years.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look like there's any chance of him returning to his previous form.
