Rays - 001 100 000 - 2 4 1 Red Sox - 100 000 000 - 1 6 0In the ninth, facing Grant Balfour, Dustin Pedroia singled with one out and was bunted to second by Shane Victorino. The Rays decided to pitch to David Ortiz with first base open (and Mike Napoli on deck). Ortiz looked at a strike, ripped a long foul to right, and then grounded back to the mound to end the game.

The Rays are not happy at the re-scheduling. (Their TV broadcast team, led by Dewayne Staats, are crybabies of the highest order, and will no doubt be whining about this for hours during both games.)
Damn straight. You wonder if someone is pushing them to be whiny, because it doesn't seem to matter who the announcer is. It's just one incessant whine after another. It's been like that for years.
ReplyDeleteBack when I had no choice what feed I got on MLBTV, and was stuck with Staats and Joe Migraine (Kevin Kennedy was there for a season, too), they would go on and on and on if a borderline call went in favour of the Red Sox. Complaining for whole innings about a ball-strike call. As though the umpires would ALWAYS rule in favour of Boston on close calls. It was ridiculously unprofessional. I never heard them in non-Sox games, but I assume they did it against everyone.
