Reports: Pablo Sandoval And Hanley Ramirez Signing With Red Sox

There are reports that the Red Sox are close to signing (or have already signed) free agents Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez.

Jake Wesley reports that Sandoval's deal is 5/102.

Ken Rosenthal tweets: "Source: Hanley Ramirez headed to Boston tomorrow to finalize deal with #RedSox." That deal is believed to be around 5/90.

    The numbers are very reasonable. I just hope they don't break down anytime soon. And Heyman is saying that Hanley is going to play LF, which probably means Cespedes goes in a deal for a pitcher.

    Sox Management must feel they understand Hanley better than they understood that other high-priced Ramirez in left field from a few year's back. Seriously.

    And less seriously, the thought of Papi and Panda motoring around the diamond on an extra base hit makes me want to smile and start jumping up and down like the guys in the dugout. Who do you think wins a match race at 100 meters? Who finishes 100 meters?

    Manny helped us win two World Series championships and was always fun to watch. I choose to remember that and his pre-DP high-five of that fan in Baltimore rather than the somewhat sour ending. And he was worth every penny.

    You guys are right. I think I was guilty of a cheap shot on Manny.

    Sometimes he was the only one on the field who remembered he was just playing a game. He showboated and pouted the way kids used to in the sandlot games of my youth, only he was so much better at it!

    Ya gotta admit, though, it's kind of funny to think of another problem child left fielder with the same surname. We can only hope he's as successful.
