ReplyDeleteHow about 6 hits and 6 runs in one game?
ReplyDeleteThree times:
Edgardo Alfonzo: August 30, 1999
Shawn Green: May 23, 2002
Joe Randa: September 9, 2004 (G1)
(Green had 4 HR in his game.)
Joe Randa--the smiley guy! I forgot all about him.
ReplyDeleteMore on Shaw, from Elias:
ReplyDeleteTravis Shaw, appearing in just his 10th major-league game, was 4-for-4 with two home runs and five runs scored in the Red Sox' 11-7 home win over the Rays. Only four other players in the modern era (since 1900) have scored five times in one of their first 10 big-league contests: Eddie Moore (1923 Pirates in his MLB debut), Mike Jacobs (2005 Mets in his fourth game), George Watkins (1930 Browns in his 10th game), and Tim Teufel (1983 Twins in his 10th game).
The last Red Sox rookie to score five runs in a game was Walt Dropo, in a 29-4 win over the Browns on June 8, 1950.
