Four of those 15 came in 2001 (Bonds, Helton, Sammy Sosa, Luis Gonzalez).
The Red Sox record for extra-base hits is 92, set by Jimmie Foxx in 1938 (33-9-50).
In 2004, Ortiz had 91 extra-base hits (47-3-41). Ortiz also holds the #3 and #4 spots on the Red Sox list, with 88 in both 2005 and 2007.

Ranks 2nd in the AL in OBP (.415), 3rd in AVG (.335), and T-3rd in HR (16).

DeleteIt would be exciting if Ortiz set both the doubles and extra base hits records. He also has a chance for the triple crown. Has anyone had a better year at age 40? I say hall of fame definitely. 600+ 2Bs, 500+ HRs. Who else had more than 600 doubles and 500 HRs? Aaron? That's all I can think of.
