Four of those 15 came in 2001 (Bonds, Helton, Sammy Sosa, Luis Gonzalez).
The Red Sox record for extra-base hits is 92, set by Jimmie Foxx in 1938 (33-9-50).
In 2004, Ortiz had 91 extra-base hits (47-3-41). Ortiz also holds the #3 and #4 spots on the Red Sox list, with 88 in both 2005 and 2007.

It would be exciting if Ortiz set both the doubles and extra base hits records. He also has a chance for the triple crown. Has anyone had a better year at age 40? I say hall of fame definitely. 600+ 2Bs, 500+ HRs. Who else had more than 600 doubles and 500 HRs? Aaron? That's all I can think of.
