The Mets Make History. Pathetic History.

The Mets lost to the Rays on Saturday 3-0. That may not seem like a big deal - it was the seventh time the Mets were shutout this season - but they did something they had not done in their previous 9,106 regular season games. And because this is the Mets, it was a bad thing.

For the first time in franchise history the Mets were shut out despite their leadoff hitter reaching base in at least seven of nine innings. The Mets went 0-for-17 with runners on base.

1st: Brandon Nimmo doubles. Three pitches later, he is thrown out trying to steal third base.

2nd: Wilmer Flores doubles. He is on third with one out, but: K, BBI, K.

3rd: Brandon Nimmo walks. The next hitters: K, F7, K.

4th: Wilmer Flores singles. Then: K, 5-4-3 DP.

5th: Amed Rosario grounds out 4-3.

6th: Jose Bautista strikes out.

7th: Wilmer Flores singles. The next batter hits into a 1-4-3 double play.

8th: Jose Reyes doubles. He is on third with one out, but: P4 and F8.

9th: Michael Conforto singles. Then: F8, L8, Conforto to 2B on DI, K.
