In last night’s 14-6 win over MIA, the Red Sox scored 11 runs on 12 hits in the 7th inning...The Sox became the 1st team in MLB history to record a hit in 12 consecutive at-bats in an inning: 1B, 2B, 1B, 2B, 2B, SH, 3B, IBB, 1B, 1B, 1B, 2B, 1B, 1B (source: Elias). None of the Sox’ 12 hits in the 7th inning were homers...Elias notes that the Red Sox are the only team in the Expansion Era (1961-pres.) to record 12+ hits in an inning without hitting a HR. Prior to last night, the Sox had not scored 11+ runs in an inning since 5/7/09 vs. CLE (12 R, 6th inn.) and had recorded 12+ hits in a frame only once since 1984 (06/27/03 vs. FLA, 13 hits, 1st inn.).
