The owners of the Chicago Cubs are actively supporting Supreme Court candidate Brett Kavanaugh. The 45Committee, a nonprofit associated with the Ricketts family, is funding a one-minute TV ad that cites Kavanaugh's "honor, integrity and strong moral character".
Politico reports that the 45Committee also "funneled millions of dollars to Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential election".
Todd Ricketts, a co-owner of the Cubs, raised "at least $66 million" for Trump's campaign. After Trump won the election, he nominated Ricketts for Deputy Secretary of Commerce, but Ricketts backed out because of his inability to disclose his family's "financial holdings to the satisfaction of the Office of Government Ethics". Ricketts was later named the Republican National Committee's Finance Chairman.
Asked about the three women who have accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault, Trump called the claims "a big fat con job" and claimed the Democrats invented the charges knowing they were false. Trump added: "It's a very scary time for young men in America."
Thanks for posting this. Good to know there's ample reason to oppose all things Cubs.
