G104: Red Sox 12, Devil Rays 6 (12)

As a six-run 12th inning eases the shock of Snuffer giving up a game-tying, two-run home run to start the bottom of the ninth.

***

Jon Lester (3.00, 150 ERA+) / James Shields (4.44, 103 ERA+)

RedSox.com:
Shields experienced the worst outing of his career on Sunday afternoon against the Yankees, allowing 10 runs on 10 hits in 3.1 innings to take his sixth loss. Shields has been the Rays' best pitcher all season, effectively using a fastball, changeup, curve and cutter to retire hitters. The changeup remains his best pitch. ...

David Ortiz has two homers in five career at-bats against Shields.

  9. Yah! Varitek tells me to STFU with an RBI single.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Then Coco bunts for a hit, Cora is HBP and Lugo draws a bases-loaded 4-pitch walk. 2-0 Sox.

  11. Tejada with the 2-run double off Fat Billy.

    2-0 Birds after 1.

  14. In the lower right-hand corner of MLB's Gameday, there is a Hall of Fame-related ad for a credit card (maybe).

MLB spells Cal Ripken's last name "Ripkin".

  19. Love seeing those obese Rays fans yelling and fist-pumping at the cameras as if they have bragging rights or something.

So we win in extras. No big deal.

  25. Fucking idiot d-rays announcers. Ragging on the umps about the check swing call.

"Oh my goodness! That was horrible! ANOTHER bad call!"

    ReplyDelete
  26. It was pretty obvious on the replay he swung.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I feel sorry for Tampa Bay. I mean, one bad call here, another bad call there, before you know it, you're 24.5 GB.

    ReplyDelete
  28. True, however, these announcers piss me off to no end.

    ReplyDelete
  29. "He could rifle it into the right field gap, he has that kind of swing.

Dribbler to first, Youkilis has it and Norton is retired."

  30. The TB team includes one of my faves, Joe Migraine.

  32. I have NESN tonight. They're no treat in extra innings.

    Come on, Ococ!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Just noticed:

Coco Crisp = Coco see RISP.

    Drive 'em in!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Are eyedrops a performance enhancing substance? Our whole bullpen is using Jeemer's eyedrop juice.

    ReplyDelete
  35. "Coco Crisp = Coco see RISP."

    "Not klaw, kraw!"

  51. Damn I'm tired and I have work tomorrow. (A novel event.) G'night all.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Out of the (recent) ordinary.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yup, 9 up. Feels good. Let's make it 10 tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  54. "It was pretty obvious on the replay he swung." Didn't look like it at all on NESN (who didn't have the all-important side angle, though.)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Rays TV had a roof shot that showed he broke his wrist/bat across the plate.

  58. nights like this is what the 'joy of sox' is all about...........great game

I'll take the recent 1-0 Dice-K win any day. Losing the lead (3 times?) to Tampa Bay is not my idea of a great game!

But a nice offensive barrage and win, for sure.
