Sox Sweep, Get 5 Days Off

Maybe we'll face some competition in the ALCS...

  1. Nice post by Schilling on his blog about yesterday's game. I would add a link, but I don't know how. I am sure you all know how to find his blog without my help anyway (and maybe some day I will learn how to insert links).

  4. So let's see if I can do this. You can find Curt's post

Thanks, Allan, for the lesson! I saved your instructions so that I can refer to it in the future.

  5. How good was Schilling yesterday? Even CHB is giving him love.
Josh Beckett is the Red Sox' new ace, but who is the starting pitcher you'd want on the mound for a Game 7 against the Indians or (gulp) Yankees?

Schill. A guy who knows that the season begins now.

I am flabbergasted by the love of CHB.

  6. That picture of Hinske is terrible. I was surprised the papers ran with it when I saw it yesterday.

  7. Yankees are bringing Chien-Ming Wang back on short rest for Game 4.

    Paul Byrd (CLE), Wang (MFY)

It's surprising they didn't go with Mussina, but I can relate to the decision. Short rest can be better for a sinker-baller like Wang.

  8. I like how this is shaping up. Wang going today on 3 days rest. I'm rooting for the MFY to win, so it's Pettite v. Sabathia on Wednesday. Then if the MFY win, we get Beckett v. Clemens for game 1 of the ALCS (or is his injury year-ending?). If the Indians win, it's Beckett v. Carmona, but we don't see Sabathia until Game 3.

Do the Sox have Matsuzaka (8 days rest) go Game 2 and Schilling (8 days rest) go Game 3 on the road, or have Schilling (5 days rest) go Game 2 and Matsuzaka (10 days rest) go Game 3 on the road? Before you answer, recall Matsuzaka's 1-0 masterpiece in Cleveland earlier in the year.

  9. Wait, what am I saying? It's not in my genetics to root for the Yankees to win...can't do it.

  10. Thanks, Laura, but I sort of messed up. I meant to have the link at the word "here," but somehow it ended up highlighting my thank you to Allan. Oh, well, at least he saw my thanks!

  11. If I had my way, it would be Beckett, Schilling, Matsuzaka, Wakefield for the ALCS rotation.

    Against the Indians.

MFY will chew Dice-K up. Dice nibbles. Tribe will be more aggressive than the Yankees.

Not for sure if you are agreeing or saying that Daisuke should be left off of the roster?

Beckett and Schilling would be games 1,2,5 and 6 in my scenario. Throw in Wake at MFY stadium and you wouldn't even need Daisuke. If its against the Indians, well that would depend on the match ups. Also in my scenario, Daisuke would make his start on the road, where he is much better.

  14. Amy, I figured that's what happened. Next time just watch where you put the closing tag < / a (with no spaces, of course). Be sure to surround just the words you want highlighted with the > and < symbols.

By the time the Sox win the 07 World Series, you'll be speaking in acronyms and posting gifs like an internet veteran. :)

  15. I pray tonight the Tribe will put the final nail in the Yankee coffin. I know some people think it'll be more exciting seeing MFY vs. Sox, but I would rather spare myself the stress.

  16. I am with you, Colin. Sox vs. Yanks is like having an extra job you report to at which you must consume a lot of beer, experience high stress, and scream at televisions for several hours.

I guess it was fun handling the Angels so easily. But, true, the next series is bound to be more difficult. Going with Beckett/Schilling games 1,2,5,6 is a nice idea. I think Dice-K isn't the first person you want to go in a game 7, but he ain't the last either.

Nope. I just think he'd need to not nibble.

As for tonight, I was the MFY to get nailed. Sox/Indians ALCS would be good for baseball. Guys going out there and playing their hearts out. We've had our MFY ALCS fun. Now let's try someone else.

  19. Of course, I agree with Colin and Zen---I can't deal with the stress of a Yankees/Sox series.

Laura, thanks. Yeah, I saw what I must have done. Next time I will be more careful. Maybe soon I can start my own blog... My kids would die!
