Lowell Resigns With Red Sox

Mike Lowell has resigned with the Red Sox for 3/37.5.

The Globe says there were reports that the Phillies offered him 4/50, but Lowell chose to stay in Boston.

Also: In the AL MVP voting, David Ortiz finished 4th and Lowell was 5th. Full voting here.

  2. oh crap. I saw it say Lowell resigned like he gave a letter of resignation.
I was hurt then I read more and realized my error.

  3. Doctor and Sox still talking about a no trade clause. Deal not final final yet.

  4. But it's that a pleasantly reasonable dollar number, with stuff like 3/45 bandied about recently?

  5. Andy, I did a double take as well, even though I had already read the news stories about Lowell. It made me think about why resign and re-sign mean such different things and whether they come from different roots (which seems unlikely).

TOOT....TOOT !!!oh yeah that's my horn!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all, by far my favorite holiday because all it involves is being with family and eating, no gifts, no religion , no stress.........

  7. You should read Red Sox Chick's and Over The Monster's take on the resigning of Doc. I'm guessing it's final now and I couldn't be happier if that's the case. Even if he's .250 I'll still like seeing the Doc give us an Rx of some HR Prozac once in a while in 2008, that or knocking out another MFY and putting them on the DL for a good while (am I a bad person for thinking about that?).

  8. I had the same reaction as andy when I saw the title.

And, 9casey, while I agree with you, I'm bemused at "being with family" and "no stress" in the same sentence.

    Happy Thanksgiving, all.

    Wow, that was cathartic.
    Got thru the family thing...alive.
Just finished the annual playing of "Alice's Restaurant".
If I can just make it thru Hannakas, spring training will be here before you know it.
...And Mikey will be there - :)

  10. Happy (U.S.) Thanksgiving, JoyNation.

"being with family and eating, no gifts, no religion , no stress........."

Family, check. Eating, check. No religion, boldface check. No stress, check. But I'll be damned if I stand here and let you badmouth gifts:)

    (Damned by a non-denominational, non-existent deity.)
